Cave Lighting Beleuchtungsspezialisten aus Herborn, Hessen. Untertagebeleuchtung als auch Architekturbeleuchtung si restoring attractions, like the Fundata Cave in Romania.

Actually project ‘Cave Lighting™’ is:

a consulting business:
we have hundreds of presentations of our equipment and offer consulting for owners/managers of subterranean landmaks worldwide. about 48 equipped tourist attractions, including:
brand new unique show caves which did not suffer from human activity/damage, like our work in the Herbstlabyrinth Cave in Germany – from developing a business concept and a show cave concept to a complete equipment installation (controlled LED lighting system, FRP route paths, monitoring system). Tours to this cave have not been properly organized before and it was in a poor condition, due to vandalizm. In 2011, Romanian speleologists and our ‘Cave Lighting’ Team cleaned and restored the Fundata cave and turned it into a successful show cave. It was an all-inclusive package of work from planning to the opening of the cave. We partially or completely upgraded/ replaced outdated electrical equipment and redesigned lighting systems in some of the oldest show caves in Europe, Postojnska Jama (Slovenia), Grotte de Clamouse (France), Grotte de Han (Belgium). In some caves we designed and installed electrical power supply systems, lighting systems, music and light systems (DMX-show) and monitoring systems. These were developed according to customers’, (Prometeus) Cave (Georgia), Dechen cave (Germany), requirements. Besides modern lighting and music systems, our project specialists developed an unique software which integrates all of these systems into one network. It also allows remote controlling and if necessary, correct operation of all systems, Höllgrotten Cave (CH), Wendelstein Cave (DE), Erdmanns Cave (Germany), Belianska Cave (Slovakia), together (something similar to a ‘smart home’ system). The ‘Cave Lighting™’ project is constantly developing. We observe modern scientific achievements and cooperate with leading speleological organizations and associations (ISCA, UIS, VDHK, Karst Institute (Postojna), speleological clubs in different countries, etc.). We continue to perfect our equipment and promote our specialists’ self-development. In 2014, we realized the reconstruction of the cave in Germany that made such an unforgettable negative impression on the ‘Cave Lighting™’ creators ten years ago and started ‘Cave Lighting™’.

💡 Great cave lighting starts with expert installation

Behind every illuminated formation are people who understand how to work underground.

👷 Our Cave Lighting technicians are currently on site at Luray Caverns, putting their skills and care into the cave’s lighting renovation.

📷 These photos capture the hands-on work that brings a lighting design to life: carefully positioning fixtures, routing cables and fine-tuning each installation.

🛠 Working alongside experts in the underground environment helps us understand the cave’s specific challenges and give every detail the attention it deserves.

✨️ Because exceptional lighting takes more than the right equipment. It takes technical knowledge, precision and respect for the place we are illuminating.

😎 Same cave. Different light. A whole new level of detail 😎💡

Sonora Caverns, Texas 🇺🇸

🗣 We often talk about how much color temperature matters in cave lighting. Here’s a striking example from the Caverns of Sonora, Texas, where the Cave Lighting team is currently carrying out lighting tests.

📷 These before-and-after shots show the difference: the existing lighting casts a strong amber hue across the formations, masking subtle color variations beneath a blanket of yellow.

👌 With our neutral and cooler white lighting, those nuances emerge.
Textures become more distinct, delicate crystal formations stand out, and the cave’s extraordinary complexity becomes easier to appreciate.

✨️ In a place renowned for its exceptional crystalline formations, every detail deserves to be seen. ✨️

💎 The beauty is already there. The right light reveals it.

Meet the people behind Cave Lighting — the different minds, skills and personalities that bring each project to life.

Meet Vladimir Vashkevich — Behind the invisible 💻

💡 One button. Light on. Light off.

Simple right?

Well, only because someone has spent years making it look that way.

Vladimir has been part of the Cave Lighting story since its earliest experiments in 2005, when the idea of using LED technology in showcaves was still being tested.
He developed the first lighting system and helped turn those early experiments into technology that could actually work underground.

In those early years, there was not always an office to work from — the project site was often his office. Whether conditions were comfortable or not, development, programming and problem-solving had to continue wherever the work took the team.

🔧 Over the years, he has developed electronics, luminaires and increasingly sophisticated control systems for Cave Lighting projects.

Today, much of his work happens behind the scenes: programming systems, diagnosing faults, updating firmware, adjusting installations remotely and making sure everything works reliably underground.

💻 “When I develop something, I’m in my virtual reality.”

What he enjoys most is seeing months of technical development become something real inside the cave.

🎭 Vladimir often compares a showcave to a theatre: visitors see the final experience, while behind it are cables, control cabinets, communication networks and countless technical details making it all possible.

✨ The goal is simple: complex technology behind the scenes, a seamless experience for everyone else.

✨️ Paddles Up, Team Spirit on! 🛶

Two weeks ago, the Cave Lighting team traded our usual routine for a day on the river! 🛶

We went canoeing, shared a picnic, and ended the day around a restaurant table.
It was a chance to slow down, have fun, and get to know each other beyond our day-to-day work.

🤝 Canoeing reminded us of something we value at Cave Lighting: moving forward together takes communication, trust, and a willingness to help each other along the way.
That same spirit shapes how we work as a team. We share ideas, bring different strengths to the table, and support one another to make every project possible.

😎 A day full of laughter, good conversations, and great company. We’re already looking forward to the next one! 💡

✨️ MEET THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE LIGHTS ✨️

Let us introduce you to Tomas Jassus.

👓 At 23, Tomas already knew electricity. Then a cave showed him what light could truly do.

🪨 His first project with Cave Lighting took him into Slovakia’s Belianska Cave. Trained as a construction electrician, he was immediately fascinated by this unfamiliar working environment. It was technical, demanding and unlike anything he had experienced before.

More than ten years later, that fascination remains.

💡 Tomas’s work focuses on the electrical installation: fitting the lights, connecting the electrical boxes and completing the wiring up to the distribution board. It requires precision, experience and the ability to adapt to very different environments—from ice caves and underwater spaces to work at height and other challenging underground conditions.

🔦 What Tomas particularly values is that no two projects are ever alike. Every cave, castle and mine has its own character, atmosphere and technical challenges. Each place requires an individual approach and a solution that respects what is already there.

🔧 Tomas brings Cave Lighting his technical expertise, reliability and deep respect for nature. In return, Cave Lighting has opened new horizons for him. It has allowed him to discover remarkable places, continue developing his skills and meet people who, over the years, have become close friends.

13/09/2026

🎉 Today, we celebrate the International Day of Caves and Karst—a reminder of the beauty, importance and fragility of our underground world. 🗻

🙌 This day helps raise public awareness of the essential role caves and karst landscapes play in biodiversity, water resources and scientific research. It also encourages a shared commitment to their protection.

🙏 Cave Lighting was proud to attend the event at the Herbstlabyrinth–Adventhöhle Cave System, close to our headquarters.
Lighting this remarkable cave was one of our very first projects, almost 20 years ago, making our presence, particularly symbolic.

🧗‍♂️ As you know, at Cave Lighting, we are passionate about caves and the underground world.
Celebrating, respecting and helping to protect these extraordinary environments is central to our philosophy—and guides the way we approach every project.

✨️ The faces behind the lights ✨️

Meet the faces behind Cave Lighting — the people who bring their unique expertise to projects around the world.

Meet Oleg Klimchuk

💡 Oleg started working with Cave Lighting in 2023.

His story underground, however, began decades earlier.

🧭 Born into a family of cavers, he grew up joining his parents on expeditions. What began as part of childhood became a life shaped by exploration, cave diving, photography and some of the most demanding underground environments in the world.

🌊 In 2005, during a CAVEX expedition to Krubera–Voronya, Oleg became the first caver to reach the bottom of what was then the world’s deepest known cave after crossing four flooded passages.

So when he joined Cave Lighting, the underground itself was nothing new.

The challenge was different.

📸 Photography had taught him to work with composition, perspective, light and shadow. With Cave Lighting, he can use that same eye on a much larger scale — not for one photograph, but for an entire visitor journey.

🔦 As a freelance collaborator, Oleg now works on Cave Lighting projects in different countries, combining his technical underground experience with that visual instinct.

What he particularly enjoys is the creative side of the work: experimenting with beam angles, intensity and colour temperature, and seeing how small changes in light can completely transform the perception of a space.

And caves rarely make things easy.

💧 At Mira Cave in Slovakia, for example, the team installed luminaires directly in an underground river and lakes — a project that brought together several parts of Oleg’s world: caving, diving, technical work and light.

✨ Different skills. Different perspective. Same underground world.
