🌑 The moment just before the world wakes up.

Introducing 'Waiting for the sun.' 🌅

This piece is the companion to my 'Blackbird' work. While the night has its own song, there is a special kind of magic in the anticipation of the first light.

Executed in raw charcoal on ancient Tuff stone, I wanted to capture the fragile beauty of a flower meadow as it emerges from the shadows. The rough, volcanic texture of the stone provides the perfect contrast to the soft, suggested shapes of the morning light. ✍️✨

"I’ve looked at clouds from both sides now..." ☁️✨

There’s a heavy beauty in the air that we often forget to breathe in. This charcoal piece is my interpretation of Element: AIR—the last of my series exploring the four elements.

Working with charcoal allowed me to capture the imposing, almost tactile weight of a storm cloud while keeping the ethereal nature of the sky. It’s a reminder that even the air we breathe has a soul.

🎶 "Blackbird singing in the dead of night..." 🌑 A melody in the darkness.

Thrilled to share my latest piece, titled 'Blackbird singing in the dead of night.' ✍️

I wanted to capture the feeling of finding a voice in the absolute stillness. This is pure, raw charcoal on a textured Tuff stone slab (volcanic rock). The stone is ancient and silent, making the ephemeral charcoal marks feel even more fragile and resilient.

This artwork continues my search for silence after destruction. The charcoal I used was made from wood burned in a forest fire, and the painting itself is executed on a charred piece of wood. Material and subject mirror each other: burned trunks depicted on a burned surface.
My work often moves between recognition and disappearance, and here that tension becomes physical. The lower two-thirds of the wood are covered with natural blistering created by heat and pressure. I leave these scorched bubbles visible, allowing them to shape the atmosphere of the piece — fragile, ruptured, and unexpectedly luminous.
Using self-made liquid charcoal on this surface creates a dialogue between control and surrender. The pigment settles into cracks and textures, echoing the instability of a forest after fire.
The work reflects on climate warming and the increasing frequency of wildfires, not through illustration but through material presence. What remains is a quiet remnant — a moment suspended between loss and the strange beauty of what survives.
