Meet our Team at the ASTRO in Friedrichshafen! 🔭✨

On June 27, 2026, ASTRO – the trade fair for astronomy – will celebrate its premiere in Friedrichshafen, and the Baader Planetarium Team will be there!

At our exhibition area, visitors can look forward to a selection of very special highlights covering modern astronomy, deep-sky observing, astrophotography, and professional observatory solutions.

We are also pleased to present three dedicated expert talks:
🌌 Experience Deep-Sky at the Push of a Button – with Herwig Diessner
📷 Next-Level Deep-Sky Photography - with Christoph Kaltseis
🏔️ Baader Observatory Solutions: 1-Meter Telescope in Chile - with Yannick Akar

We look forward to many inspiring conversations with fellow astronomy enthusiasts & cannot wait to share our highlights with you in the upcoming weeks!

We’re always happy to see real-world experiences from the astrophotography community! 😍

Thomas Hanrath has shared his first impressions of our Baader LRGB CMOS-optimized filters — with a very pleasing conclusion: sharp, contrast-rich data and filters that simply did their job reliably.

The setup included our Baader Apo 95 CaF2 Travel Companion, an IMX455 mono sensor, and Baader LRGB filters, with data captured both under dark skies and suburban Bortle 5 conditions.

Our LRGB filter options:

Thank you, Thomas Hanrath, for sharing your experience and results!

Observable Space has published a major press release, and we are very pleased that Baader Planetarium is mentioned as a strategic partner for the company’s continued expansion in Europe.

“Our longstanding partnership with Observable Space reflects a shared commitment to advancing high-performance optical systems,” said our CEO Johannes Baader. “Together, we are expanding access to these capabilities across Europe and enabling new applications in both research and commercial markets.”

As part of this collaboration, Baader Planetarium supports access to Observable Space’s high-performance consumer telescope systems, including the FSCT8 and DeltaRho 280, which are relevant for demanding astronomical, research-oriented, and commercial applications.

We congratulate the entire Observable Space team on this important milestone and look forward to the next steps in our collaboration.

https://observable.space/news/observable-space-closes-90-million-series-a-to-scale-manufacturing-and-turnkey-lasercom-platform-announces-94-million-u-s-space-force-contract/

Today we closed a $90 million Series A and a $94 million U.S. Space Force contract to scale the next-generation of optical infrastructure for space. We’re building vertically integrated systems across laser communications, optical sensing, and in-space payloads.

This marks a major milestone in our purpose with scaling the most resilient space sensing capabilities.

Dome production in full swing! 🔭🛠

Several Baader Planetarium Domes are currently taking shape in our assembly hall — from a 6.15m Advanced Dome with lightning protection, a 4.2m Advanced Dome on high cylinder to AllSky Domes in different sizes and production stages.

Their use cases range from laser ranging and laser communication to space situational awareness — and even a drone port for large industrial drones.

We are always proud and appreciated to see our dome systems trusted to protect critical intelligence infrastructure and highly sensitive instruments around the world.

First light with the DeltaRho 280! 😍🔭

During the clear nights over the past few days, our colleague Herwig Diessner and Christoph Kaltseis had the opportunity to test the new DeltaRho 280 by Observable Space.

The setup was mounted on a Centaurus II and a GM1000 by 10Micron, the images were captured with a Moravian Instruments astronomical cameras C5A-100M.

Stay tuned for the results they were able to capture — or visit us or Christoph Kaltseis’ talk about this incredible wide-field astrograph at the upcoming astronomy trade fair, the ASTRO in Friedrichshafen.

We can’t wait to see the final outcome.

Successful Site Acceptance Test for the 1-meter telescopes in Meßstetten - an important step for national space situational awareness capabilities ✅

Another major milestone has been reached in the Bundeswehr’s space surveillance project: the two 1-meter telescopes have successfully passed their Site Acceptance Test on site in Meßstetten.

After transport, installation and integration, the systems were tested under real operating conditions — an important step toward commissioning and future operational use.

The project demonstrates how precision engineering, reliable system integration and close cooperation between all partners come together in a highly demanding field: optical space surveillance.

A project of this scale can only be realized through close cooperation between specialized partners. In addition to the Bundeswehr (German Federal Armed Forces) as the customer and user, steep GmbH, sciencentric® AG and us in particular played a decisive role in the successful implementation.

What does it feel like to work as a technician in the Observatory Solutions team at Baader Planetarium? 😍🔭

A look inside our Telescope Integration Center gives a pretty good impression: four different telescope systems are currently in various stages of preparation — from integration and testing to completion and final assembly at the customer’s site.

Each project is unique, and every system requires precision, experience, and close teamwork before it is ready for its final destination under the stars ✨
