Social Media Content Creator

ARCHiNOS is seeking a Social Media Content Creator. This is a hands-on role focused on visual content creation, short video editing, and the day-to-day management of multiple institutional social media accounts within a clear visual identity and a structured approval process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create bilingual social media content in English and Arabic (same message, adapted tone).
• Design social media visuals in line with established visual identities.
• Edit short videos and reels.
• Photograph events and post stories during activities.
• Manage and schedule content across Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
• Maintain regular posting through a clear content calendar.
• Draft responses to comments and direct messages in coordination with the team.

Requirements:

• Proven experience managing both commercial and non-commercial social media accounts.
• Strong knowledge of Adobe creative software, including design and video editing tools.
• Strong visual judgement and attention to detail.
• Excellent written English and Arabic.
• Ability to work within institutional approval processes and manage multiple accounts.

Highly desirable:

• Background or experience in architecture, heritage, archaeology, or cultural work.
• Proven experience in graphic and visual design in conventional, non-online media.

This role prioritises visual quality, consistency, and an institutional tone.

Walking Tour: Forgotten Heritage in the “City of the Dead”
A walking tour of unknown funerary architecture.

Led by architect and conservation expert Jarosław Dobrowolski, the tour is based on more than three years of research carried out by the ARCHiNOS Architecture team under his leadership. It focuses on usually unknown post-mediaeval funerary architecture in the Eastern Necropolis part of the of the “City of the Dead” in Cairo.
The merit of the little-known structures are both their often high artistic qualities and the history they bear witness to.

📍 Meeting point: Shared by email one day before the walk with registered participants

Fee: 500 EGP, fully donated to the Sultan Foundation in support of community development projects in the area

Organised by MASQ (Multicultural and Artistic Spaces at Qaitbey’s) and ARCHiNOS Architecture, this walking tour is part of a multifaceted project carried out by ARCHiNOS and the Sultan Foundation. The “Forgotten Heritage” documentation and research project was initially funded by ARCADIA, and is currently supported by Gerta Henkel Foundation.

Closing a Day of Art, Cinema, and Community at Qaitbey

ختام يوم الفن والسينما والمجتمع في قايتباي

A special day at Qaitbey brought together cinema, music, theatre, arts, and crafts in the heart of the ‘City of the Dead’.

اختُتم يوم مميّز في قايتباي جمع بين السينما، والموسيقى، والمسرح، والفنون، والحِرف، في قلب صحراء المماليك.

The programme opened with the “Cinema in the City of the Dead” walking tour, led by Amr Abotawila, architect and Programmes Manager at ARCHiNOS, introducing key filming locations and the role of place in cinematic memory. The festive Christmas Sultan’s Fair was a welcoming space for local artisans and the general audience.

بدأت الفعاليات بجولة “السينما في صحراء المماليك”، بقيادة عمرو أبو طويلة، المعماري ومدير برامج التنمية التراثية، حيث تعرّف المشاركون إلى مواقع تصوير بارزة ودور المكان في الذاكرة السينمائية. وبالتوازي، وفّر بازار الحرف اليدوية مساحة دافئة للقاء حرفيي القاهرة المحليين.

The literary panel discussion “The Desert of the Mamluks through the Eyes of Khairy Shalaby”, featuring Shaaban Youssef, Dr Azza Kamel, and Zein al-Abidin Khairy Shalaby, and moderated by Mohamed Tawfik, exploring place, storytelling, and cultural memory as featured in the works of the renowned Egyptian author.

وقدّمت فرقة مسرح قايتباي عرضها الأول «حدود الصوت»، تلاه اللقاء الحواري “صحراء المماليك كما رآها خيري شلبي”، بمشاركة شعبان يوسف، والدكتورة عزة كامل، وزين العابدين خيري شلبي، وأدار اللقاء محمد توفيق، حيث دار النقاش حول علاقة المكان بالسرد والذاكرة الثقافية.

On the same evening, the Qaitbey Theatre Troupe presented its debut performance, “Boundaries of Sound”.

وفي كرافتاستك، افتُتح معرض "ولنا في الفن حياة" للدكتورة شيرين البارودي، واختُتم اليوم بأمسية موسيقية مع فرقة هوس، أنهت الفعاليات بطاقة حيّة ومشاركة جماعية.

At CRAFTASTIC!, the exhibition “In Art, We Find Life” by Dr Shereen El Baroudy was on view, before the day concluded with a live performance by Hawas Band, closing the programme on an energetic note with a lively performance much appreciated by the public.

كان هذا اليوم تذكيرًا بأن قايتباي مساحة حيّة تتشكّل بالناس وبالتجارب المشتركة.

This day reaffirmed Qaitbey as a living space shaped by people and shared experiences.

Meet the Artist: Agnes Michalczyk

تعرفوا على الفنانة: أجنيس ميهالچيك

Agnes Michalczyk is a visual artist and educator based in Cairo. Her work explores the city through a female perspective, revealing how women shape and sustain everyday urban life.

أجنيس ميهالچيك فنانة بصرية ومُدرّسة تقيم في القاهرة، تستكشف المدينة من منظور نسائي يُبرز دور النساء في تشكيل الحياة اليومية ونسج الذاكرة الحضرية.

A graduate of the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig, she works across painting, drawing, collage, and new media. Her recent works transform women’s daily labour into visible, textured forms that express strength, care, and resilience.

تخرّجت من أكاديمية الفنون البصرية في لايبزيغ، وتعمل في الرسم والتصوير والكولاج والوسائط الجديدة. في أعمالها الأخيرة، تُحوِّل العمل اليومي للنساء إلى أشكال ملموسة تعبّر عن القوة والرعاية والصمود.

Agnes teaches at the German University in Cairo and is pursuing doctoral research on immersive media and heritage at Freie Universität Berlin and the University of Edinburgh.

تُدرّس أجنيس في الجامعة الألمانية بالقاهرة، وتتابع بحثها للدكتوراه حول الوسائط الغامرة والتراث في القاهرة التاريخية بجامعتي برلين الحرة وإدنبرة.

On Thursday 18 September 2025, Multicultural and Artistic Spaces at Qaitbey’s (MASQ) welcomed Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain to Sultan Qaitbey's Complex in Cairo’s “City of the Dead”. The visit showcased heritage conservation work by ARCHiNOS Architecture and the social development work by the Sultan Foundation, celebrating the team who make this work possible.

في يوم الخميس 18 سبتمبر 2025، استضافت مساحات قايتباي متعددة الثقافات والفنون (MASQ) جلالة الملكة ليتيسيا ملكة إسبانيا في مجموعة السلطان قايتباي بحي قايتباي في صحراء المماليك بالقاهرة التاريخية. وقد جاءت الزيارة لتسليط الضوء على أعمال ترميم المباني التراثية وإعادة استخدامها التي تنفذها آركينوس للعمارة، وعلى أنشطة التنمية المجتمعية التي تقوم بها مؤسسة السلطان، احتفاءً بالفريق الذي جعل هذا العمل ممكنًا.

Calling all creative minds!

The Sultan Foundation and ARCHiNOS Architecture are thrilled to announce the Summer Edition of the Qaitbey Children Camp, focusing on the “History Seekers: A Journey through Time in the City of the Dead” theme.
Nestled within the unique "City of the Dead", our project and activities aim to empower children of the Qaitbey neighbourhood through engaging workshops.

Uncovering the Past, and Shaping the Future

Building on the success of our previous summer programmes, we are seeking your innovative ideas for (preferably) one-week-long workshops that introduce children (aged 10-15, both girls and boys) to the rich world of heritage and history. With children's natural curiosity in the exploration of the past, we want to spark a lasting passion for history while helping them understand the importance of preserving the cultural and historical treasures around them.
Together, let’s equip the next generation with the knowledge, creativity, and care to explore and protect the living heritage at the heart of their city.

We encourage proposals in various disciplines, or a blend of them, such as:

● Arts and Crafts: Encourage children to recreate important heritage sites in the City of the Dead using drawing, sculpture, or mixed media.
● History and Heritage: Highlight how the city has changed across different historical periods and understand the stories behind its architecture and communities.
● Science and Nature: Help children notice the hidden natural life in historic spaces, and learning how nature developed through time and how it was used in the city of the Dead
● Storytelling: Read stories and/or imagine the life of the Mamluks and life in the “City of the Dead”

Workshop proposals should be no longer than one A4 page and include:

● A clear and concise description of your workshop idea.
● How it connects to the theme of heritage and history.
● The planned activities and their learning objectives.
● Any visual aids or materials needed (optional).
● Your CV highlighting your experience with children's workshops.

يسر مؤسسة السلطان ومكتب آركينوس للهندسة المعمارية الإعلان عن النسخة الصيفية من معسكر أطفال قايتباي، والتي تدور حول موضوع: "رحّالة الزمن: مغامرة عبر التاريخ في صحراء المماليك". في قلب صحراء المماليك، يهدف مشروعنا إلى تمكين أطفال حي قايتباي من خلال ورش عمل تفاعلية ومُلهمة.

نكتشف الماضي لنُشكّل المستقبل

استنادًا إلى نجاح برامجنا الصيفية السابقة، نبحث عن أفكار مبتكرة لورش عمل (ويُفضَّل أن تمتد لأسبوع واحد) تُقدَّم للأطفال من عمر ١٠ إلى ١٥ عامًا (من الفتيات والفتيان على حد سواء)، وتفتح أمامهم أبواب التاريخ والتراث الغني. نرغب في استثمار فضول الأطفال الطبيعي لاكتشاف الماضي، لإشعال شغف دائم بالتاريخ، وتعزيز وعيهم بأهمية حماية الكنوز الثقافية والتاريخية المحيطة بهم. فلنعمل معًا على تزويد الجيل القادم بالمعرفة، والخيال، والمسؤولية لاستكشاف التراث الحي في قلب مدينتهم وحمايته.

ندعو لتقديم مقترحات في مجالات متنوعة، أو مزيج منها، مثل:

● الفنون والحِرف: تشجيع الأطفال على إعادة تخيّل المواقع التراثية في صحراء المماليك من خلال الرسم، أو النحت، أو الوسائط المتعددة.
● التاريخ والتراث: شرح تطور المدينة عبر العصور المختلفة، وفهم القصص وراء عمارتها وسكانها.
● العلوم والطبيعة: لفت انتباه الأطفال إلى الحياة الطبيعية الخفية في الأماكن التاريخية، والتعرّف على كيفيّة تطورها واستخدامها في صحراء المماليك.
● الحكي: قراءة أو تخيّل قصص من حياة المماليك والعيش في صحرائهم التاريخية.

يجب ألا يتجاوز مقترح ورشة العمل صفحة واحدة (A4)، ويتضمن ما يلي:

● وصف واضح وموجز لفكرة الورشة.
● كيفية ارتباطها بموضوع التاريخ والتراث.
● الأنشطة المخططة والأهداف التعليمية المرجوة.
● الوسائل البصرية أو المواد المطلوبة (اختياري).
● السيرة الذاتية موضّحًا فيها خبرتك في العمل مع الأطفال.
