The Shanghai Tower stands tall at 2,074 feet (632 metres). It has the world's fastest elevator, which can cover 118 floors in 55 seconds!
Elevator rides are not usually worth documenting. But when you step into the elevator at China’s Shanghai Tower, you might feel like pulling out your phone to record it. As the doors close, a screen at the elevator’s front lights up to show you its location — as it rises toward the building’s newly opened observation deck. A neatly-dressed attendant in the lift is waiting to welcome and inform that the elevator has now reached the top, at a speed of 18 metres per second, approximately 40 mph.

This Mitsubishi Electric-designed elevator travels at an incredible 20.5 metres per second (67 ft/s). According to the CNN report, the elevator is faster than Usain Bolt — who can run 40 ft/s but is slightly slower than a cheetah (95 ft/s).
