The cassette table project is finally complete! 🙌

This one turned out rather nicely in the end too.

I had no idea what I was doing, and have very little prior experience with woodworking. But I still managed to create a sturdy coffee table shaped exactly like an old cassette tape.

Made from top quality pine wood, with copper hairpin legs to complete the simple but rustic design.

All it took were some simple hand held tools, a steady hand (or two), and a few "think outside the box" moments to slap together this idea. I made some simple measurements of an actual cassette tape I still have lying around, but drew the concept out freehand and figured out the whole thing on the fly.

Super chuffed by the final result! I hope you are too. 😎

Here are a few photos of my first project I started this week.

I found some pine wood at the local hardware store that was a good size, and then began measuring from there.

Using nothing more than a tape measure and a few simple hand tools, I took to work shaping the top and the bottom of my latest design. A large coffee table.

I'm about halfway there now... Most of the measurements and cuts have been made, and most of the parts are glued together.

Just a few more sections to shape and glue onto the base now (including the top), and then it's on to sanding and varnishing the final piece before adding some legs.

I still haven't decided whether to design and create my own legs for this table, or to just add some pre-made legs from a store. What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments!!

I'll be adding more photos next weekend of the sanding and varnishing process, so you can start to see the final product taking shape.

So, what can be achieved by harnessing this power I hear you ask?

Well, here I am trying to find out... All without actually selling my soul to the Dark Lord himself.

I have very little previous experience with woodworking and carpentry, but one thing I do have a lot of at the moment is "Idle Hands".

So I have scoured the internet for interesting and challenging projects to sink my teeth into, and will be attempting to create some fantastic works of art out of wood.

If this sort of thing is of any interest to you, do be sure to follow the page for lots of updates on how I have been getting along so far!

I will be regularly posting photographs of the process, as well as any tips and tricks as I learn them along the way.
