International Biennial of Landscape Architecture

Since its first edition, International Biennial of Landscape Architecture has expressed its desire to intently study and discuss landscape interventions, as much from the perspective of landscape architecture as from other disciplines linked to its study and evolution. The Biennial has been consolidated on a European scale in its seven previous edi

tions: “Remaking Landscapes” (1999), “Gardens in Arms” (2001), “Only with Nature” (2003), “Landscape: a Product / a Production” (2006), “Storm & stress” (2008), “Liquid Landscape” (2010) and "Biennial versus Biennial" (2012); during the last tenth and nineth editions, the Biennial has unveiled new landscape realities through the internationalization of its Rosa Barba Landscape Prize. With “A Landscape for You” (2014) and "Tomorrow Landscapes" (2016), Biennial opened itself to international landscapes for the first time. After “Perfomative Nature” (2018), on 2020-21 the motto is “Climate Change, again: City and Nature”. Biennial includes talks, presentations by those finalists competing for the Rosa Barba Landscape Prize, and International Landscape School Prize, presentations, exhibitions and samples from which we be able to track and discuss the evolution of landscape architecture world. Pluja a fora. 🌧️ Màgia a dins. ✨
Deixa que el temps parli a través de cada petjada.

L’empremta del Temps t’espera — on els moments es converteixen en memòria i l’art captura allò que el temps no pot esborrar.
Ens veiem allà.

This exhibition introduces time as the decisive vector of evaluation.
The fifteen laureates assembled here span a quarter century of practice, from Landschaftspark Duisburg
Nord’s recognition in 1999 to Grønningen-Bispeparken’s award in 2025.
We can now assess not merely what designers proposed but what time has proven: which
landscapes have exceeded expectations, which have evolved in unexpected directions, which have become indispensable to the communities they serve.

This edition ends, but the work continues: landscapes grow, evolve, and speak to us—and we keep learning from them.

Landscapes keep speaking—we keep learning. 🌿✨
💚 Thank you
See you at the next edition.

On 22 November 2025, we came together at Parc UPC – Agròpolis for a full day dedicated to the future of agrivoltaics in the Baix Llobregat Agricultural Park. 🌱⚡️
Organized by Symbiosist within the framework of the Landscape Biennale Barcelona, the workshop explored how solar infrastructure can coexist with productive farmland, followed by a visit to the new demo installation above a lettuce field.
Huge thanks to everyone who joined, shared insights, and helped imagine new pathways for resilient agricultural landscapes. 🙌🌿

It’s a profound honour to award the IFLA Mention of the 13th Barcelona Landscape Biennial to Turenscape, led by Professor Kongjian Yu, for their project “Urban Balcony – Embracing Rewilded Nature” in Xi’an, China. The project is not only a work of exceptional design, but a living embodiment of everything Professor Kongjian Yu devoted his life to. It transforms a former wasteland into a resilient, sponge-like landscape, provides 120,000 residents with meaningful access to nature, and integrates traditional water and land management wisdom into modern urban life. This recognition celebrates ecological innovation, social impact, and visionary design.

🏆 Public Opinion Prize Winners – 13th Barcelona Landscape Biennial

This year’s public has celebrated three standout contributions:
1. The Dark Line – Michèle & Miquel (Rosa Barba Public opinion Prize) a poetic infrastructural-landscape project in New Taipei City, Taiwan, that reclaims a disused railway tunnel and cliffside paths into an immersive corridor between nature and memory. It combines evocative lighting, rugged topography, and the interplay of shadow and structure to redefine movement and experience in the landscape.

2. ETH Zurich – Landscape Architecture Program
3. PUC Chile – MLA Program
(Ribas Piera Public Opinion Prize )

The ETH Zurich and PUC Chile have jointly won the Ribas Piera Public Opinion Prize at the 13th Barcelona International Landscape Biennial. This recognition highlights their outstanding programs in landscape architecture, celebrated by the public for pioneering education in climate-resilient design, nature-based solutions, and collaborative studio work.
