We are pleased to share that Débora Mesa will be a featured speaker at the Future of Construction Symposium 2026, hosted by ETH Zürich from May 20 to 23, 2026. This year’s symposium explores the convergence of AI, extended reality, robotics, and advanced fabrication within the AEC landscape, examining how emerging technologies are reshaping architectural practice and redefining the future of the built environment.

Débora will participate in the panel “Industrialising Construction” on Thursday, May 21, 2026. The panel explores how design technologies, construction management intelligence, and new modes of industrialized production are opening alternative pathways for architectural practice, fostering new relationships between creativity, efficiency, and construction.

Débora’s contribution will reflect on the evolving role of the architect within these emerging technological and business frameworks, arguing how architects can redefine practice between human intuition and technological advancement, using industrialization not to standardize architecture, but to expand its creative and constructive possibilities.

We are pleased to share that our work is featured in the upcoming exhibition "RADICAL REHAB. Architecture and heritage in Spain (1975-2025)," hosted at La Casa De La Arquitectura in Madrid.

The exhibition features our work on Can Terra, to illustrate a new paradigm in architectural intervention. It embodies the experimental recovery of a building's latent capacities. By transforming a former sandstone quarry in Menorca into a space for living, the project challenges traditional dogmas of conservation, showing how the traces of the past can inspire a radical transformation that is both creative and sustainable.

The exhibition design uses these physical models as a landscape of architectures that negotiate and transform pre-existing structures, highlighting how our work treats heritage as a dynamic, living resource rather than a static monument.

You can visit the exhibition from today, 23rd of April 2026, at La Casa de la Arquitectura, Paseo de la Castellana, 67, Madrid.

We’re honored to be featured in the April 2026 issue of Domus (1111) for our ongoing collaboration with Miyake Design Studio on Paper Log.

The project investigates the architectural potential of the paper used to protect fabrics during the pleating process. Shell & Core frames this inquiry as a dual exploration: Shell, our contribution, and Core, developed by Miyake Design Studio, establish a dialogue between skin and skeleton, lightness and mass.

Shell transforms this industrial byproduct into a thin, autonomous architectural skin—a surface that envelops objects like a garment. By stabilizing ephemeral folds and wrinkles, we develop a series of lightweight yet structured furnishings, where the material’s memory becomes the catalyst for form. In parallel, Core examines the compressed interior of the paper rolls, revealing their latent density and structural potential.

Shell & Core is presented on the global stage of Milan Design Week through an immersive installation at the Issey Miyake Milan Store.

Blending intuition with scientific precision, the installation reflects on materials as an intermediate layer between the body and the environment—capable of taking on multiple forms and living multiple lives.

Join Débora Mesa Molina and Roger Boltshauser for "TIERRA," an in-depth conversation on the synergy between architecture and the earth, today Thursday, March 19, at 7:00 PM (19:00)

Moderated by Jon Garbizu Etxaide and hosted at La Casa De La Arquitectura in Madrid, the talk explores the structural and expressive potential of earth as a contemporary material. The discussion will draw on architectural and material research examining how natural resources can redefine architectural practice.

The event is free and open to the public.

We invite you to join Débora Mesa at ETH Zürich for her upcoming Inaugural Lecture. The presentation titled - 'Making Space for Experimentation' positions experimentation as a primary mode of architectural knowledge production, articulated through iterative thinking through making, where hands-on experience becomes a core epistemic driver. It frames built work not as a final product but as an operative moment within extended research processes, in which architectural intelligence grows. The lecture reflects on how architectural practice and education can create the conceptual and spatial conditions necessary to sustain experimentation and inquiry.

The event is part of the public program for the Spring Semester 2026 and will be held on February 18, at 5:15 PM, at HG’s AudiMax of ETH Zürich. It will also be accessible via a live broadcast for those joining remotely, at the following link - https://event.swisscom.ch/v/eth-live-1

Antón García-Abril will be at the Weitzman School of Design in Philadelphia today to deliver a presentation on "Architecture of the Earth," as part of the university's EwingCole Lecture series.

The lecture centers on our studio’s research into the physical properties of the land and the technical processes required to engage with it. Antón will discuss the intersection of engineering and natural materials, focusing on how structural innovation can redefine the way we inhabit space.

The lecture takes place today, at 6:30 PM, at Meyerson Hall, B1 210 South 34th Street, Philadelphia, PA. You can find out more about the event at the link below.

We invite you to join Antón García-Abril for a lecture titled "Architecture of the Earth" at Cornell Tech in New York this upcoming Tuesday.

As part of the Gensler Family AAP NYC Center’s spring series, the talk will explore our studio’s ongoing research into the relationship between the natural environment and the built space. Antón will discuss how we use material experimentation and structural innovation to uncover new ways of inhabiting the landscape. The evening will begin with an introduction by Florian Idenburg and Jesse LeCavalier, curators of the series, and end with Antón joining Nader Tehrani for a moderated conversation.

The event is free and open to the public, and you can register to attend at the link below. We look forward to seeing you there for the presentation and the dialogue that follows, on February 3, 2026, 7:00 PM, at Tata Innovation Center, 4th Floor, Cornell Tech Campus, Roosevelt Island, NY.

We are pleased to participate in the upcoming exhibition "Levers Long Enough" opening at Pratt Institute.

The exhibition brings together a series of architectural experiments through sketches to explore how specific design interventions can act as catalysts for broader change. Our contribution is featured alongside a diverse group of practitioners, looking at how architecture can shift our perspective on the built environment

You can join the opening reception and explore the collection of works on February 4, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Higgins Hall Gallery and North Gallery, 61 St. James Place, Brooklyn, NY.

We are happy to be featured on Classics of the Future, a platform that curates a selection of contemporary works and the artists/practices behind them.

The feature organizes our work into a digital archive that mirrors our own process, categorizing projects by their structural logic and their relationship to the land. From our early works like the Truffle, the Structures of Landscape, and more recently the excavated spaces of Can Terra to our modular and prefabricated systems, the website offers a clear look at how our different research lines evolve. It is a great opportunity to see our work grouped by the ideas that drive us, highlighting a shared focus on building with raw materials and the earth.

We are honored to share a recent feature in Artforum, where Carlo Ratti (CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati) reflects on our shared exploration of architecture’s geological origins.

The article bridges the experience of Can Terra—our "house of the earth" in Menorca—with our recent collaboration for the 18th Venice Architecture Biennale. Ratti recalls the process of developing the Sun Stone, a project where we worked to bridge the weight of geological matter with solar energy.

Ratti shares his experience of the "house of the earth," describing a way of building that focuses on excavation rather than construction. By looking at both the Venice installation and the transformed quarry, the text explores how architecture can find its place within the landscape through minimal intervention. It is a thoughtful look at our shared effort to rethink how we inhabit the earth by uncovering the potential already hidden within it.
