The therapeutic and medicinal plants in the landscape design reference the history of the concepts of healing and medicine, while enriching the plant collection in the area.

Aiming to keep the urban memory of the epidemic alive, the project creates a landscape of collective and performative memory where idea and knowledge couple. These memories of the pandemic are planted in the ground and raised for the future of the whole society. While this unique place of memory and commemoration in the heart of the city tells the bitter stories of the epidemics to the citizens; life and death, past and future are hidden within the fields of memories.

Our project “An Atlas of Rituals” is the second award winner in the Europan16 Competition in Italy, Bitonto.

Aiming to integrate and encourage processes and activities within the daily life of this olive territory, the project supports this framework with a responsive and communicative virtual ecosystem that embodies an augmented environment of user interaction and data. With its layers offering a distributed information system to provide active ecological monitoring interfaces to self-organization tools, urban circulation to event calendars, the adoption of the digital communication layer consolidates more empirically-based human & nature centered design aiming to cancel distances, promote its locality via global mediums and to achieve participatory, transparent and dynamic future for Bitonto and its hamlets.
