Dear all,
As you might know already we need to elongate most of the columns so that we will have sufficient overlapping length for the next elevation columns. There are 156 columns. Out of these columns, 76 columns needed the elongation and each columns has 6 reinforcement bars. As we discussed with Ato Fikire, he suggested 70 cm of clear overlapping length shall be left above the grade beam. A total of 29493 birr is required for increasing the reinforcement overlap which means 2268.70 birr per head.
the additional masonry work needed 3 courses or 3 layers of stone, two layers of stone below ground level (having ‘L’ shaped masonry of 10m long) and one layer above the ground level, from these Additional work, the layer above the ground level was included in the previously issued cost, only the cost for the two layers laid below the ground level is an additional cost. Speaking of which, we will not charge you for the excavation, which was suppose to be an additional work.
Total added masonry
52 cubic meter = 49,400 birr
4 cubic meter per house = 3,800 Birr

As you see on pictures we almost finished (90%) of the first phase, the things we r left with is to compact the selected material by compactor, per our scheduled which it get started by tomorrow Thursday and finished on Saturday.
I hope we will meet with Ato Fekere on Friday, and move on to the next phase starting from Saturday,

We rebuild the masonry that lack of enough cement,water and which needs improvement, that was built previously as we said we will do.
