On the 22nd April, the International Hydrographic Organization brought together delegates from 104 member states together with observers from international organisations such as the PYA, to share regional and international hydrograhic information and reports at it’s 4th assembly.

Hydrography is the science of measuring and mapping physical features of oceans, seas, coastal areas, and inland waters. It focuses on water depth, seafloor structure, tides, and currents to create nautical charts essential for safe navigation.

Could the yachts play a part in mapping the seabed?

🚨 New Schengen EES is now live (since 10 April 2026)

For non-Schengen yacht crew, the Entry/Exit System replaces passport stamps with digital records — meaning you are now “stamped in” and “out” electronically, not in your passport.

👉 In practice, procedures remain largely the same when joining or leaving a vessel.
⚠️ However, only border authorities can access the system — you will have no physical proof of your stay.

What this means for crew:
• You are responsible for tracking your own Schengen days
• Keep personal records (boarding passes, travel dates, etc.)
• Overstaying may lead to serious consequences (refused disembarkation or re-entry bans)

📍 Note: Implementation may vary between countries (e.g. Italy currently applying different procedures).
