Preliminary sketch for a future wine cellar in Saint-Émilion.
The goal: to explore how the human body relates to a carved-out volume, inspired by a stone quarry.
The presence of stratified layers guides the composition—expressing the weight of the ground, the texture, the structure.
Before any architectural concept, there is this stage of research: understanding proportions, sensing scale, testing spatial atmosphere.
A simple drawing, but a key step in shaping a grounded, meaningful and timeless space.
