Le français de Juliette

Le français de Juliette You moved to France and you’re ready to truly belong, not just visit 😀. Comme Josephine Baker, j'ai deux amours ! Lesquelles ? L'écriture, et l'anglais. Langues.

Friendly French coaching to help you speak and connect in everyday life. 🇫🇷
From smiling and nodding… to actually joining the conversation. 💬 C'est pour partager mon savoir-faire de rédactrice web et de "prof" d'anglais que j'ai créé Juliette J.

Last week, one of my students looked at me and asked : “Juliette… c’est quoi une cocotte ?”

And honestly, it’s a good question. Because une cocotte, ça peut être le plat très lourd que tu as dans ta cuisine… or just a chicken in the garden. Same word, totally different picture 😅

That’s the kind of French I love teaching : not the textbook stuff, juste les mots originaux de la vraie vie.😊

Have you ever come across a French word that completely lost you? Dis-moi en commentaire, I’m curious 👇

Sometimes the best thing you can do is slow down.

Quelques jours entre France et Espagne, un peu de lecture, du vélo, la mer et beaucoup de moments pour se ressourcer.

Retour progressif aux projets et au français de la vraie vie 🇫🇷

Et vous ? What helped you recharge recently?

🚚 I’ve been gone for a bit. No big announcement, no dramatic return.
Just me, carrying boxes and asking the same question again and again :
👉 “Je le pose où ?” Where do I put this?
Do you know how to say it naturally in French? The real words. The ones you’d say to a removal man, a neighbour, your partner when you’re both exhausted and surrounded by boxes. 📦
That’s exactly the French I work on with my clients. Not grammar exercises. Real life, real sentences, real moments.
Glad to be back, contente d’être de retour ! 🏠

I walked into my friend’s boutique and I was rude.
Three times, and on purpose! 😬
No “bonjour”, a dry “c’est combien ?” … and I left without a word.
Her face says everything! 🙄😂
If you’ve ever felt like the French were cold with you in a shop.. 🥶maybe this is why.
These three tiny moments make a huge difference, and nobody ever warns you. This is the kind of things that I teach to my clients who are learning French.
Share this with someone who needs it😅

There’s a big difference between visiting France and actually living here.
When you travel, not speaking the language is part of the adventure. You manage. And then you go home.
When you live here, really live here, the language is no longer exotic. It’s the thing standing between you and your landlord, your doctor, your neighbours.
My clients didn’t move to southwest France as tourists. They moved for the life.
And that’s what we work on together : real-life French as a key.

She just wanted to welcome her foreign customers in her shop.
Tu vis en France et tu veux te sentir vraiment at home en français, au-delà des bases ?

Last week I was in Spain (again!) and I have to admit, I had a few uncomfortable moments.
Disputing a mistake on a supermarket receipt.
Refusing extra insurance at the car rental.
Asking about tiles in a shop.
Ordering in a cafeteria.
Nothing dramatic. But in each of those moments, I felt exactly what so many of my clients feel every day in France.
That gap between knowing what you want to say… and actually saying it.
I work with English-speaking adults who have chosen to make their life in southwest France, and who are ready to stop feeling like a tourist in their own home.
If that sounds like you, come and have a look at what I do. ➡️Link in bio
