💫 A Shared Path Forward for Shiatsu in Europe - Spotlight on the ESF 💫
Over the past decade, the European Shiatsu community has undergone a remarkable transformation.
What was once a fragmented organisation working primarily through political channels gradually evolved into a more connected, collaborative and trust-based network — one built through dialogue, shared purpose and grassroots participation across countries.
Through initiatives such as Shiatsu Resources Worldwide, international meetings, workshops, meditations and the first European Shiatsu Symposium in Brussels, new bridges have been created within the Shiatsu community across Europe and beyond. The vision continues to be one of greater unity: different countries, organisations and practitioners finding ways to work together while honouring their diversity.
This growing collaboration is already bearing fruit. More countries are reconnecting, new conversations are emerging, and important milestones in professional recognition are being achieved — including Austria’s EQF Level 6 recognition for Shiatsu.
As a new chapter opens within the ESF, the focus remains on listening, communication and building a shared direction for the future of Shiatsu in Europe.
Much of this work happens quietly behind the scenes, but at its heart it is simply people from different countries, languages and perspectives coming together through a shared passion for Shiatsu and its place in society.
The invitation remains open: to participate, to communicate, and to help shape the future of Shiatsu together.
