Two lovely fireside chairs brought back to life with a printed velvet. Probably originally from the 1940's, they were re-covered in brown by the owner's parents in the 1970's.

The problem with bedlinen is that you can't always find what you want. The valance is too short, or they don't have the right size, or the design is good but the quality is too poor. Here's a solution. Use a plain colour bedlinen but add a band of colour to match everything else. In this case, the valances and headboard covers were custom made but the addition of another co-ordinating fabric adds dimension. The same fabric is picked out in the cushions and seat cover. And a band of the original fabric on the curtains ties those in as well.

I always give the wood a clean when I re-cover chairs. I love it when the wood comes up so well, the difference can be clearly seen.
