Hey everyone! Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet on here — I’m much more active over on Instagram, but I’m trying to get better at keeping Facebook updated too.

I wanted to share a project I’m currently working on: a custom-designed bookcase for a client. They came up with the design, and I’ve been bringing it to life from scratch.

One of the big differences I’ve noticed since moving to France is how raw the timber is when it arrives. In the UK, planed timber is pretty much standard — but not here! Some of the pieces I received still had bark on the live edge. That’s why I’ve invested in a solid planer, which has been a game changer!

I’ve been turning these rough lengths of timber into beautiful, smooth planks ready for assembly. There’s something really special about transforming a raw, natural material like wood into a piece of handcrafted furniture. Nothing beats it.

It's a new week and I've hit the ground running. I have lots of quotes to get through but I'm really excited about the projects I'm taking on.

At the weekend I located some local suppliers for the materials I'll be using to bring these projects to life. Wood is such a tactile material. It's not just about how it looks and feels in your home but it's about knowing that it's been sourced as ethically as possible.

France has some of the best forestry management laws in the world with sustainability being a high priority. The local supplier for the materials I'll be using sources wood all across the south west of France meaning your hand crafted furniture won't be far from where it originated.

It's been a busy couple of weeks! I've visited a number of new clients across the Dordogne and Lot et Garonne to organise some quotes for a variety of different projects including a custom stair case, fitted wardrobes and custom storage shelves.

My services aren't just limited to woodwork. I've done projects which have included tiling, plasterboarding, constructing stud walls, laying wooden flooring and general snagging.
