Contrary to popular belief, technology is everywhere in Kenya and Tanzania. Maasai use cellphones in many ways which became a very common way to manage many things such as banking, various services, even to pay the rent. Much more of what we're doing here in France or any other europeean country. An interesting example of adaptive use of mobile telephony to the intrinsic needs of the Maasai community is when shepherds use text-messages to warn and prevent lion attacks.

Cellphones are still relatively new in some parts of Tanzania, but have drastically impacted the way farmers work.

"GARY HODGES CHARITY AUCTION RAISES A STAGGERING £133K FOR WILDLIFE!"
Wow !!! What else to say?

A sensational sell-out private view of Heart & Soul and a star-studded auction of work by highly sought-after wildlife artist Gary Hodges has raised a record £133,000 for the work of the Born Free Foundation and Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA).

To understand the purpose of one of our goals and the challenge of the education of maasai youth: today, maasai people consider the lions like foes for their livestock. They lead the livestock in the reserve where the cows may be attacked and kill by lions. Lions don't know make the difference between cows and gnus. As soon as a cow is killed by a lion or a lioness, maasai warriors are at war. They go to hunt the involved lion and kill it. you need to know that for one male lion killed this is in fact 6 or 7 lions killed because the new alpha of the goup kill all females' new born lions. The attached article show us that this usage is common in Kenya and Tanzania.

Maasai morans have speared a lion to death, only a day after Kenya Wildlife Service wardens gunned down another one.
