Here we were working alongside the service provider. This was to minimise the inconvenience to the client. From power off to back on again in under 4 hours!
From an old 3 phase overhead supply to a 60A single phase underground supply. The service provider took the new supply to the property boundary, and we pulled in a new 16mm supply cable, gave them a proper earthing system and even pulled in a garage supply at the same time.

So we had a 7 lights to change, a 6mm feed for a new electric hob/oven, an earthing system and some board work and a nice big 5g10mm supply to pull in.
One of the boards had an existing 3 phase supply, but only a single phase being used?!?! after testing the cable and finding out that it was fine to use we changed it back to a 3 phase system. Now the client can use all of her appliances and not have the entire place trip out 💪
The other (new) board is set up and future proofed for the project ahead, and ready for the 3 phase heating and Aircon system being installed next week.

More dodgy boards and lack of compliant earths!!! Don't let this be you guys and gals.
It doesn't cost a lot to get you all electrically safe.
This client will be put right next week, a new three phase board, differential protection and a compliant earthing system amongst other jobs.

So, today was a testing and inspection day... And they are fun days!
Before undertaking major works on your electrical installation, or just for peace of mind, it's worthwhile getting a mapping and testing service. It will show whether or not your installation is safe and compliant. You'll even know where to isolate circuits in your accurately labelled board!

Today's tests showed that over 90% of the clients cable is still in great condition, and 2 out of the 5 boards are up to the current NFC 15-100 regulation standards. I even found an absolutely fabulous old installation which was definitely worthy of a photo... However, this old boy doesn't confirm to today's safety standards and has to be changed.
