The last peonies of the season.

Against all odds, my «Nancy Nora» peonies are still holding their own through Paris’ relentless heatwave. Their exquisite rose-geranium fragrance drifts through the apartment, reminding me that beauty is often found in the briefest moments.

I have always believed that beauty can influence the course of a day. These flowers are a small reminder of that. I catch sight of them on my way out each morning, and every time they manage the same small miracle: they make the day feel richer before it has even begun.

They bring a kind of soul-level joy that is difficult to explain.

Perhaps because some things ask nothing of us except that we notice them.

There comes a moment in the life of an artisan when skill, experience, and observation converge into something greater than technique alone.

This collection is the result of a lifetime spent observing the natural world, drawing daily, refining forms on the wheel, and learning the subtle alchemy of metallic glazes. Each decoration begins with careful observation of the birds and animals that inhabit the surrounding countryside, then is adapted to an oval, round, oblong, or octagonal form.

The firing brings its own uncertainty. At 2372°F (1300°C), the glazes react, transform, and reveal themselves according to the mysteries of heat, atmosphere, and placement within the kiln. Even after decades of experience, the final verdict belongs to the fire.

Such are the demands, and the rewards, of the ceramic arts at their highest level.

We are proud to present a selection of what we consider to be among the finest works we represent at La Tuile à Loup. Each platter, bowl, trivet or mini plate featured in the photos is unique. Functional by nature, yet equally at home on a wall, a mantelpiece, a shelf, a side table or wherever one wishes to open a small window onto the imagination.

Animal art at its finest. The work of the hand, the eye, and the human spirit. The result of a lifetime of observation, discipline, and unwavering dedication to a singular craft.

There are no shortcuts in basketry.

Each of these five baskets was handwoven in France by a single artisan, one piece at a time. The process is demanding, the craftsmanship extraordinary, and the pace of production impossible to accelerate.

That is both the beauty and the challenge.

Every basket is unique. Each carries its own character, proportions, and decorative language. Some evoke summer travels and long afternoons in the countryside. Others find their place effortlessly on a console, a bedside table, or wherever beauty and usefulness are welcome.

The finest handmade objects ask for time. They reward patience, skill, and attention. Their value lies not only in how they look, but in how they were made.

This month’s selection includes five one of a kind pieces.

Like a summer table set somewhere between the Mediterranean and a dream.

A 24-piece teal green dinner service with assorted patterns, available now as one complete and indivisible set.

The slightly conical silhouette of the plates gives the service a sculptural presence on the table. Each plate rests gently on a small pedestal foot, creating depth, shadow, and elegance when layered together.

A 44-piece blue & white marbleware dinner service to begin the summer season. There is something almost aquatic and painterly about these swirling blue patterns in summer light.

With marbleware, the colors are embedded directly into the clay, creating fluid, unpredictable patterns that make every piece entirely unique. Depending on the table setting, this collection can feel equally at home in a classic interior or a more contemporary one.

It is quite unusual for us to have a complete marbleware dinner service available, as most are made exclusively to order.

This complete marbleware dinner service is available now and offered as one single unbreakable set.

May feels like the height of flower season.

In Paris, peonies spill out onto every florist’s stand, and then, for a brief moment, come the water irises.

They carry something almost Edwardian to me, elegant, theatrical, slightly decadent, as though they belonged to another era of long lunches, flowing champagne, and beautiful carelessness.

I wait for this moment every year, when the days in the northern hemisphere grow longer and softer, slowly carrying us toward June and the beginning of garden rose season.

Like a fashion designer from a bygone era or a painter of still lifes, I am always searching for the perfect vessel to magnify the flowers of each season.

This collection brings together one of the great traditions of functional pottery from the South-West of France.

These are simple, honest wares made for daily life: serving bowls, oven dishes, salad bowls, pitchers, and rustic vessels that move naturally from kitchen to table. The kind of pottery meant for generous summer gratins, slow-cooked meals, fresh fruit, or flowers gathered from the garden. Pieces to live with rather than to preserve behind glass.

What we particularly love about this pottery is its unpretentious beauty. The forms are straightforward, practical, and deeply rooted in a regional tradition where usefulness and beauty have always gone hand in hand.

At La Tuile à Loup, craftsmanship means that every step is done entirely by hand by an artisan carrying years of experience, gestures, and cultural heritage. That human presence remains visible in every piece.

A few important things to know about this collection:

These wares celebrate the beauty of imperfection.
The pieces are intentionally rustic. Many are partially unglazed and may show irregularities, variations, or small glaze marks that are part of their charm and authenticity.
The pottery is generally heavier and rawer than many of the refined wares we usually present.
While the pieces themselves remain reasonably priced, shipping small quantities is often not cost-effective, as transportation costs can exceed the value of the wares.
