[Expertise] 10th anniversary for the Russky Island cable-stayed bridge in Vladivostok! 🎂🎉

10 years ago, our teams were mobilised in Russia for the construction of this record-breaking structure in Eastern Siberia, which represented a huge step forward in cable-stayed bridge technology.

Its 1,104m main span set a new world record and required extra-long cables of 582m. These are the longest bridge cables ever made; their design also had to be adapted to the extremely harsh weather conditions in the region, not only for installation but also over time. ❄️

Photos of the wrapped go viral since its inauguration on September 18. But on closer inspection ... have you wondered how Christo and Jeanne-Claude imagined this nearly 25,000 square meters of recyclable fabric to be fastened on the Arc de Triomphe? The answer lies with Freyssinet, the prestressing specialist!

We supplied and implemented two prestressing cable systems to hold the fabric from the penultimate floor of the memorial.

For specialists, we more precisely installed and tensioned two 4-strand trusses. Deviators were specifically designed for this project to turn the 4 strands from a circular shape to a rectangular one. This technical innovation enabled placement of the trusses on the strands to keep the fabric in place.

In Bangladesh, the Unit 1’s dome of the Rooppur nuclear power plant installation just ended.

The day before lifting, a special mounting rail of 15 steel cables was installed.
Freyssinet is scheduled to be on site until December 2022 📆
