Strawberry Grange Launch

A home designed around you - not a house type chosen for you.

Following its official launch on October 1st, Strawberry Grange is now on the market, offering a limited collection of serviced custom-build plots on Culter House Road, Aberdeen.

At MAC Architects, we’re helping purchasers create individual homes shaped around their lifestyle, priorities and budget. There’s no catalogue of predetermined house types - each design is developed specifically in response to the client brief, site and wider development context design code.

Every home is developed in 3D BIM using Archicad, allowing our clients to be fully integrated into the design process from the outset. Rather than simply reviewing plans, they can explore and understand their home as it develops, including through immersive VR, helping them make informed decisions about space, layout, materials and the overall design before construction begins.

From the architecture and internal layout through to the detailed design, the process is collaborative throughout.

Set within a leafy, semi-rural location on Aberdeen’s western edge, Strawberry Grange combines access to the countryside with convenient connections to the city and Royal Deeside. With a maximum of just 19 plots, the vision is for a small, distinctive neighbourhood of individually designed homes rather than a development of repeated house types.

Two plots were sold ahead of launch, and we’re currently working on designs for these plots, with planning applications due to be submitted in the coming weeks.

A small footprint, a big connection to the landscape.

Our Corgarff Holiday Cabin is a bespoke retreat, nestled within the woodland landscape of the Cairngorms.

Inspired by Scandinavian simplicity, the cabin creates a calm, intimate space that makes the most of its setting.

A warm, natural material palette brings the cabin to life, with timber cladding and timber detailing creating a strong connection to the surrounding woodland. Inside, natural finishes and carefully considered textures create a sense of warmth and simplicity, while carefully positioned openings frame views out into the landscape.

A reminder that great architecture doesn’t always need to be large — sometimes the most memorable spaces are the simplest ones.

Corthiemuir is a new-build dwelling in Aberdeenshire, bringing together contemporary design with references to the area’s rural character.

A reclaimed bothy forms part of the material story, complemented by Frake timber cladding and a crisp K-Rend exterior. The combination creates a home that feels both modern and connected to its setting.

A closer look at Lennoxbrae — a bespoke new-build dwelling in Moray, where considered architecture and carefully selected materials come together to create a distinctive contemporary home.

The material palette combines reclaimed and restored brickwork with a custom fluted glass screen, panelled walling and acoustic detailing. Nanotech black furniture and a living wall add further layers of texture and character to the interior.

It’s a project that reflects our approach to creating places that are individual, functional and rooted in their surroundings.

Project Overview — Fielding Mains of Petmathen, Oyne

A closer look at our thoughtfully designed new-build project at Fielding Mains of Petmathen, Oyne, set within a remote site with uninterrupted views towards Bennachie.

Designed to sit comfortably within its landscape, the home places the principal living spaces on the first floor, making the most of the surrounding views and creating a strong connection to the outdoors through generous wrap-around terraces.

The design brings together natural materials and carefully considered details, including exposed glulam timber beams, a bespoke floating cantilevered staircase set against a striking stone wall, and a custom barn sliding door opening into the heart of the open-plan living space.

The project is now for sale, offering an exciting opportunity to bring this distinctive architectural vision to life in an exceptional rural setting.

🏗️ A major milestone for Banchory Outdoor and Active

MAC Architects are delighted to be part of the project team helping to bring forward the exciting plans for the redevelopment of the Dee Street sports facilities in Banchory.

Following the unanimous approval of the Community Asset Transfer by Aberdeenshire Council’s Marr Area Committee, the project has reached an important milestone in its ambition to transform the site into a modern, vibrant multi-sport facility for the local community.

The proposals include padel courts, basketball and netball facilities, 5-a-side football pitches, alongside the refurbishment of the existing bowling green, pavilion and putting green.

It has been fantastic to work alongside Banchory Outdoor and Active and the wider project team to help develop the vision for the site, and we look forward to supporting the project as it moves into its next stages.

A fantastic community-led project with the potential to create a lasting sporting legacy for Banchory and the surrounding area. 👏

Planning Application Submitted | Drumlaire, Whitecairns, Aberdeenshire

Project update: Planning permission has been submitted for a self-build dwellinghouse and garage on an established rural site in Whitecairns, Aberdeenshire.

The proposed design draws inspiration from traditional rural vernacular architecture, featuring a simple T-shaped 1.5-storey form with secondary lean-to extensions. This approach provides our clients with a cost-effective, efficient construction while creating a modern, open-plan layout perfectly suited to contemporary living.

A carefully considered material palette of vertical timber cladding, natural slate, and red corrugated roofingensures the dwelling sits comfortably within its rural landscape, celebrating both heritage and modern simplicity.
