Another big project completed recently ⚡

This job involved replacing an old rewireable fuseboard with a brand new consumer unit complete with full RCBO protection and SPD protection fitted for improved safety and compliance.

As part of the project, a new supply for a cooker had to be installed, the kitchen sockets were fully rewired, additional sockets were added where required, and a completely new ring main was installed throughout the property.

Definitely one of the bigger projects I’ve taken on recently. A lot of work went on behind the scenes — multiple floor hatches had to be cut and lifted to run new cables, and plenty of time was spent crawling under the floorboards to get cables routed properly to every socket outlet.

A challenging job, but great to see the finished result and know the installation is now much safer, modern, and ready for years to come ⚡👌

It’s been a busy weekend for me with a couple of very different jobs completed. ⚡

The first was fault finding on the British Legion car park lighting after the lights stopped operating correctly. After testing and tracing the fault, the issue was narrowed down to a failed contactor controlling the lighting system. A replacement contactor was sourced and will be fitted at a later date, getting the car park lighting fully operational again. 💡

The second job was at a separate property, involving the removal of an old telecoms and security system that had been left abandoned beneath the building in a very awkward basement crawl space. Tight access, low headroom and years of old redundant cabling definitely made this one challenging.

While carrying out the work, I also discovered a dangerous previous repair that had been done by a handyman, where damaged wiring had simply been taped up and left exposed. This has now been repaired properly and made safe using a new IP-rated junction box with all wiring correctly terminated and secured.

A couple of very different jobs, both left safe, tidy and completed properly. ⚡

Another job completed ✔️

Replaced a faulty burnt-out 13A double socket and installed an outdoor heater in this summer house to make it a much more comfortable space all year round 🔥

The original socket had signs of overheating and burning, so this was replaced with a new safe and reliable double socket before installing the heater supply and tidy surface wiring.

Clean finish, safe installation, and ready for the colder evenings 👌

Another tidy outdoor installation completed today in the sunshine ☀️🔌

Installed a new outdoor socket for the customer, including drilling through the exterior wall, running conduit for a clean and protected finish, and fitting a weatherproof IP-rated double socket ready for year-round outdoor use.

Always nice to get an outdoor job on a day like this..tidy install, happy customer, and even managed to enjoy the sunshine while working! 😎

Not posted in a while, so here’s a recent one 👋

Installed a new 9.5kW shower complete with all accessories. Started with the easy bit first — the plumbing side… honestly not sure why plumbers make such a big deal of it, it practically puts itself together 😄

Also replaced the pull cord switch, which had a loose neutral and seized up. This was re-terminated properly, tested, and made safe. Wee friend in there too 🕷️

All finished up, working perfectly, and another happy customer 🚿✅

🎄 That’s a wrap for Christmas! 🎄

I’m officially signing off for the Christmas break and will be back to normal business on 5th January.
I will still be available for emergencies only during this time – please note that an emergency call-out rate will apply.

🔌 Looking ahead to the New Year 🔌
After the break, I’ll be starting a compressed working week, which means I’ll have full Fridays dedicated to the business and my clients. This will allow me to focus more on larger projects, planning, and delivering even better service moving forward.

I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me since I started working for myself – your support, kindness, custom, and recommendations honestly mean the world.
And of course… a special mention to all the cups of tea ☕️ that have kept me going on site 😄

Today I helped one of our lovely older clients who had been feeling nervous using her back path at night due to poor visibility — especially with these dark, frosty evenings setting in. ❄️🌙
