This is the first of three Georgian style sash windows measuring 1.8m high x 1m wide for a property near Llanberis, Gwynedd. It has double glazing and narrow glazing bars to provide the traditional look. It’s also designed for easy maintenance/painting as the seals are all on the sliding sashes rather than the outer frame so no need to worry about getting paint on staff/parting bead brushes. The Deventer seals offer superior insulation compared to traditional brush seals which can become loose over time.

So we’ve just finished a set of 6 double hung sash windows which have been single glazed, 5 with 4mm clear glass and one with 4mm frosted/obscure glass. We used a rapid set putty so we could paint prior to assembling the windows. They have been painted two tone, so one colour looking from the outside and a different colour inside. The 2 larger windows have narrow 25mm glazing bars. All windows are fitted with a Brighton fastener which is a compression rather than alignment fastener and pulls the sashes together at the meeting rail to provide an effective seal and stop any rattling in windy conditions. Some of the windows are fitted with satin chrome ironmongery and the others with lacquered brass.
