Electrical condition report on a property in Conwy flagged up 80% of the house was still wired in original cables from 1950s onwards. Unfortunately the test results from inspection and testing had proved the installation had come to end of life, And a full rewire has started 😊

Finally a break in the weather to complete some outside work for a BBQ and worktop area. Also some lights under soffit Installed in trunking to match and hide cables 🌞🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Call out to a family who decide to hire a cheap electrician to complete the very expensive extension on their home.

Obviously wasn't a qualified electrician because he'd wired the sockets in a mix of socket cables and lighting cables 🙄 he never returned to complete the work.

Make sure that your electrician is qualified, registered to sign off work for building control and certification is provided as well as being insured to carry out the work.

Very costly mistake to make as the extension was completed but can not be signed off until this mess has been sorted.

Inspection and testing of a property we uncovered this green goo! This is actually a breakdown of the pvc cables.

The plasticiser starts to slowly decompose over time, reacting with the copper to produce the green colour. This process can be accelerated by high temperatures caused by overloading or loose connections.

Rewire was recommended and taken on board by the property owners before this got any worse than it already was.

Faulty lights, Cable had been damaged from the last time it was installed and causing a electrical arcing! Cut back re terminated and secured in a Wago lighting box.

Call out last week because the home owner was getting a electrical tingling feeling when in the shower! After investigating the fault, found this connection in the loft space.

No rcd protection on the shower circuit 😳

New cables run for the shower and new rcbo consumer unit and niceic test certificate ✅️

Could of been a whole lot worse 🪦
