This is where the Ash for our axe handles comes from. Our ancient woodland, which we are restoring by reintroducing into a coppice rotation. The first picture is of a freshly worked compartment, with much of the poorly Ash being felled and stacked creating space to allow lots of light to the ground floor. The second picture is a compartment is one which we worked a few years ago, proper dense and great habitat for loads of wildlife 🌳

Work in progress - albeit very slowly!

I’m very happy with the shape of this Ash handle which I have been working on recently. Apart from the chainsaw when I fell the tree, all of my other work is with hand tools including, axes, drawknives and spokeshaves.
