Really proud moment for me seeing this from North Lancs Training Group - NLTG 🙌
I started my journey back in 2011 as an apprentice with NLTG, and it’s where everything began… learning the fundamentals, building confidence and developing the skills that have led me to where I am today.
To now be part of the NLTG Alumni Network is a real honour and genuinely means a lot. It’s a full circle moment.
I’m also really proud to still have a close relationship with NLTG, and it’s great to see the next generation coming through… future joiners, business owners and directors in the making.
A big thank you to everyone at NLTG for the support back then and for everything you continue to do for apprentices and local businesses.
Apprenticeships really do open doors 👏
🚀 It’s Here. NLTG Alumni.
Today we proudly launch the NLTG Alumni Network, a brand new community for our current and former apprentices, learners and employer partners.
This is a major milestone for NLTG. A space to reconnect. A platform to grow. A network to celebrate success.
And as it’s Employee Appreciation Day, it feels especially fitting. This launch recognises the people who have shaped NLTG over the years and continue to represent everything we stand for.
The Alumni Network turns past connections into lasting professional relationships and future opportunities.
To mark the launch, we’re proud to spotlight an alumni story that reflects what community looks like in action.
🌟✨From Apprentice to Award-Winning Director✨🌟
Paul Walsh – 2011 Apprentice Graduate of Bench Joinery & Wood Machining.
If not for a chance conversation with his uncle, a joiner, Paul might have followed his mother into teaching.
After completing his A-Levels, Paul was preparing for university, but the academic route didn’t feel right. Encouraged to pursue something practical, he approached North Lancs about an apprenticeship.
Paul completed his apprenticeship with NLTG while working at Sovereign Leisure Limited, developing strong skills in bench joinery and wood machining. He then progressed to The Senator Group, building further industry knowledge and professionalism.
Reflecting on his time at NLTG, Paul credits the support from his tutors:
“They gave me the confidence to achieve my ambitions and taught me the importance of getting the basics right.”
With a long-standing ambition to run his own business, Paul established Loft Logik LTD as a family business in 2022.
Since then, it has grown into a successful company employing staff and expanding its client base. In 2025, the business received the Best Small Business Award at the Hyndburn Business Awards.
More than 15 years after joining NLTG as an apprentice, Paul maintains strong links with us, supporting apprentices with timber donations and returning with his team for further health and safety training.
He is now planning to recruit an apprentice of his own, giving back to the next generation of tradespeople.
“I would 100% recommend North Lancs and apprenticeships to anyone, they really do open doors… It makes me proud to see how far I’ve come, and a big part of that is down to NLTG.”
Paul’s journey shows what happens when strong foundations become lifelong relationships.
When opportunity becomes achievement.
When learning becomes leadership.
When connections become community.
And that is why today matters.
If you’ve studied, trained or worked with NLTG, we invite you to reconnect, expand your network and continue building your future with us.
