The recent Royal Forestry Society Breaking Point survey highlighted the serious pressures currently affecting contractors in both the forestry and arb industries.

Financial stress and unsafe or high risk situations were highlighted as major issues.
More than 1 in 3 mentioned burnout or mental exhaustion and just under half shared explicit mental health struggles. Clearly this is a very serious matter in our industry and one that needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency.

The Wellbeing In Forestry Group was formed to look into these issues, and more importantly find solutions.
At APF 2026 in the Forestry Worker Zone at point 170 on the Demo circuit at 2pm on both Thursday 24th and Friday 25th you can have your say.
There will be a panel discussion to which all are invited to put your points and experiences across and help form a strategy.
Sometimes just talking to others and sharing experiences helps.

The Arb Worker Zone is a must visit part of the APF demo.
Around half of the visitors to the show work in the Arb industry and the AWZ
contains many of the big names in the Arb world.

The area also will also be hosting the UK Team Speed Climbing competition, demonstrations of capstan winches, battery powered ascenders, training and the latest PiCUS tomography equipment.

🪵 Think you’ve got what it takes to change a bar and chain in under 10 seconds?

Come and meet the UK Loggers team on the Husqvarna stand at APF 2026 and discover the world of competitive precision chainsaw competitions.
Each day of the show, UK Loggers will be running three sessions per day, giving visitors the chance to watch demonstrations, ask questions and have a go themselves.

Whether you’re curious about chainsaw felling competitions or looking to sharpen your own skills, the team will be on hand to talk you through the five competition tests: felling, snedding, cross-cutting and bar and chain change.

Book on the day — just bring evidence of your chainsaw certificate for maintenance and cross-cutting. PPE and saws will be available to borrow.

Events take place across Europe and as far afield as Japan, with the World Logging Championships held every two years. The UK sends a team — and one day, you could be part of it.
