Is a vacuum excavator a non-destructive digging machine or just a giant hoover? 🤔

Most people know vac-ex units for safely exposing underground services without the risks associated with traditional excavation. But when you've got a 44-tonne trailer full of sand that needs emptying, they're also incredibly effective giant hoovers that can reach where other methods probably can’t.

Our team recently used one of our vacuum excavators to remove tonnes of sand from a trailer, helping get it emptied, back on the road and back to work.

A gas mains strike is one of the biggest risks associated with excavation.

Our team supported gas main works in Chertsey to make way for a new road project with safe and controlled excavation, helping expose and access the existing infrastructure ready for diversion works to continue smoothly.

Choosing vacuum excavation minimises the risk of striking the gas mains exponentially. It allows material to be removed with far greater control compared to mechanical digging, significantly reducing the likelihood of damaging buried assets.

Peekaboo… 👀 Not the average view for the ops today 😅

The team have been busy cleaning gravel out from inside a salt filter tank in Bristol to prevent residue build up and minimise risks from using degraded filtration materials, safely removing material, and helping get the system ready for the next stage of works.
