⚡ Ohme ePod EV charger installation completed in Clackmannan ⚡

Our client first contacted us at the end of May. Due to the garage’s location, the installation required a cable route of approximately 70 metres from the house to the charger.

Following our cable calculations, we installed 10mm² EV Ultra SWA cable, which carries both power and data between the house and the charger.

We also installed a local isolator at the garage, allowing the client to quickly and safely isolate the charger without having to walk back down the hill to the house.

This was a challenging installation involving tight spaces beneath the floor, a long route through the garden, and new cable ducting where required. We also fitted a dedicated Hager EV consumer unit before fully testing, certifying and commissioning the installation.

Before work began, we handled the application with SP Energy Networks. They upgraded the property’s main supply fuse to accommodate the additional demand from the charger.

A long shift—but another safe, properly designed EV charger installation completed and ready to use.

Modern fuseboards have circuit breakers called RCBO’s. These devices have a test button which should be pressed every 6months to ensure they are operating as they should.

This video shows how to test these circuit breakers.

Fuseboard upgrade Nevis Crescent, Alloa.

Our client had recently moved into a property in Alloa and was concerned about their existing Fuseboard.

The existing Fuseboard was the old rewireable fuses, original to when the house was built and no longer meeting current electrical standards.

We tested the property first to ensure there was no underlying issues with the electrics.

Although the majority of the electrics were original to the property, testing proved all circuits were fit for purpose and we were able to go ahead with the Fuseboard upgrade.

The new Fuseboard installed was our go to brand Hager, comes complete with a Surge Protection Device and 30mA RCBO protection which helps quickly shut off the electrics under fault conditions.

Electrics were retested and as Gault Electrical Solutions are a NICEIC Approced Contractor, an Electrical Installation Certificate was issued to our client on completion.

An existing client of ours from Sauchie called us, they had a problem with their tumble dryer.

They told us over the phone, “the plug has gone brown”

We advised them if possible and safe to do so, to switch it off and remove the plug.

We find this a lot with tumble dryers and the moulded plug that comes with it.

Moulded plugs are machine manufactured in a factory and cannot be fitted with a screwdriver.

Due to ill health our client could not make use of the recent sunshine and had been using their tumble dryer more than usual.

Prolonged use of tumble dryers can cause the plug to over heat which can lead to thermal damage to both the plug and the socket.

We replaced the socket, cut the old moulded plug off and fitted a 13amp rewireable plug.

Tumble dryer back up and running and client happy knowing that the plug on the tumble dryer and the socket is safe to use again.
