So about a year ago to the day, we had installed LED lighting to new start up business that had a Sauna out at Karma Lake of Menteith.

That business is the wildsaunacompany and as the business has been a success over the last year, that particular Sauna had moved to a new location at Dalgety Bay Sailing Club.

A new Sauna has been installed at Karma Lake of Menteith and our fabulous client asked us to come back and install lighting in this Sauna too.

The LED tape is IP66 rated and specially designed for the heat generated in sauna environments. This was provided to us by Arc-Led arcled_

We noticed lots of changes to help make your Sauna experience better, such as 2 outdoor pergolas/seating areas to give a little shelter from the Scottish Summer!

Thanks to Jenny at The Wild Sauna Company for the repeat custom and trusting us, once again, with this project.

Home Energy Scotland have some funding, grants and interest free loans available to help heat your home.

It depends on your eligibility, but support can be available of over £10k

There’s also a storage heating support available up to £2.5k for rural areas to replace storage heaters with more modern electric heating.

Other types of help is, loft and flooring insulation, heat pumps, external insulation.

For anyone who meets the criteria and are struggling to heat their homes this is a great place to have a look and see what may be available to you.

Following on from our Monday Post…

Back around May/June time we went to Alva Glen to inspect and test the power supplies for the illuminations. This is something we had done previously a couple of years ago.

We were hired on behalf of Alva Glen Heritage Trust who need the inspection and testing done, so that the illuminations can go ahead.

The inspection and testing flagged some concerns with the existing equipment. This was not due to lack of maintenance from the trust it was basically the Scottish weather doing what it does best!

Even on hot, dry days The Glen can be humid and damp and these conditions have a knock on effect.

Unfortunately, the equipment previously installed was also obsolete.

So we set about sourcing new power supplies and installed them around August time.

Once installed, this allowed us to retest, provide a satisfactory report and most importantly let the illumination happen.

The equipment supplied is rated for the elements, have higher protection incase of an electrical fault and brings everything up to current electrical standards.

That was the easy part!

Next part was helping set up the illuminations.

We were only available on the Saturday arrived around 10:30am and we left just shortly after 9:30pm

A long day for us but the work the volunteers put into getting the illuminations up and running is unreal.

Planning started back in Dec 2025, there’s easily 2km of cables and thousands of bulbs to check that they are working as they should be.

Then co-ordinating groups and putting together packs so we know what cables are to go where.

Lots of muddy boots and sore feet and hands but it got there in the end and we really loved playing a small part in making it happen.

Between 7pm and 9pm we had over 4000 visitors

Which made all the stress and hard work worth it.

The work that the volunteers of the trust put in to keep the Glen accessible and in particular the work they put in to make the illuminations a huge success is unreal.

An Ohme Pro charger installed today in Tullibody

Job was slightly more complex with the cable route.
Cable clipped along the attic to keep it up out the way of insulation and storage, down the outside of the house and a trench, pre dug by our client, and we installed ducting to protect the cable when getting buried.

⚡️DNO approval sought before install as standard
⚡️Testing and certification complete
⚡️Set up of Phone App for easy charging
⚡️Charger ready to go for the arrival of our clients new Electric Car

Majority of the cable install carried out by one of our 4th year apprentices 💪🏼. He’s been working hard gaining valuable on-site experience.
