No chipper required today when you've got some big boy toys onsite to drag the brash away 🚜😍

This Sycamore was in decline and had quite the lean on, towards the main road and some BT lines. Alan made short work of dismantling the top and then felling the stem to eliminate any risk moving forwards.

Not really 🤣 we used our stump grinder on this job so that the roots of the Eleagnus were completely removed to enable new turf to be laid.

Alan did however blunt his freshly sharpened axe on our second job of the day 🫣😔

Day 2 at Holmes Chapel Community Centre for Holmes Chapel Parish Council and the big job today was to make a hard reduction on an overstood Beech hedge before it grew into a lot of tall Beech trees. We also removed a number of small dead trees and reduced the height on a large Holly and the whole area is much brighter 😊

Fuelled by a delicious breakfast from the cafe we also gave the small hedge at the front a really hard trim as there were a lot of self seeded Sycamore growing through it. Whilst it looks a little drastic, moving forwards it will be a much neater hedge.

First up for the week was some work at Holmes Chapel Community Centre for Holmes Chapel Parish Council.

We started by reducing back some of the growth of 2 trees that was blocking the floodlights, and also crown lifted them over the access road to make it easier for the delivery lorries.

We then headed down to the woodland area by the skate park to remove 2 dead trees to eliminate any risk of them dropping any branches. They made quite the mess, shattering on impact. Back for round 2 tomorrow.

No photos as we were far too busy, so instead it's beautiful blooms from a lovely garden I visited over the weekend 😍

A little cooler today thank goodness whilst we dismantled an Ash tree showing signs of decline due to Ash dieback.

Situated over the car park and maintenance yard area of Holmes Chapel Primary School we have removed all of the brash from the top to eliminate the risk of falling branches whilst leaving the trunk as perfect habitat for wildlife, including Woodpeckers 🤞🏻

The school community are enthusiastic users of the outdoor spaces for learning so they had all of the woodchip for their paths, and the timber which they are going to use for seating, stepping stones, and activities 😍

When life gives you lemons and all that 🍋

We were lucky enough to spend the hottest day of the year so far ( 🥵🫠 🥵) working at the Antrobus Arms where the staff took care of us admirably with a plentiful supply of cold drinks and ice 🍶🧊🥤

The reason we were onsite was that a few weeks ago a large branch on a Scots Pine failed, and as the tree was right in the beer garden it was decided the safest course of action was to fell it to a high stump.

The lovely Steve has only seen this as opening up possibilities as the area behind has so much more light now that he is planning a production area for growing veg and herbs with other plans that are also growing!!

He has kept some of the timber and all of the woodchip ready for his project 😊

First up for the day was a customer who we worked for for the first time recently who asked us back to deal with this Conifer which was encroaching on the roof line.

This is a cause very close to the heart of our lovely Lissy who will be joining her family and friends on the last leg of their journey along the Cumbria Way this weekend.

She has worked so hard all week and will be heading off to get even more steps in to raise money for research into such a terrible disease.

Day 2 of the Conifer hedge reduction and Alan reckons he had the tree equivalent of snow blindness he has seen so much Conifer 🫣

Lissy has been all over the brash removal and was queen of the chipper whilst Harry literally stepped up in some new kit working with Alan to get some of the huge lengths of branches out.
