A stone cladding job I done earlier in the year on a new build.

Built in a semi coursed style with a recessed pointed joint, finished off with sandstone window cills and a hand carved date stone.

I’ve never built this stone before but it looks the part if you’re wanting a traditional style farmhouse look. ⚒️⚒️

A chimney stack re-build carried out recently on a listed building.

Most of the chimney stack was beyond repair so it had to be stripped right down through the roof, 80% of new stone had to be added and rebuilt. All of the new sandstone was cut, squared and hand-tooled on site to match the existing masonry. We also made a new header out of the same sandstone and added new pots to finish.

Not an easy one to get right but it’s always rewarding to see the finish compared to what it was. ⚒️

A fine big house we’ve done a lot of hard graft on.

Both gables and the rear elevation have been picked & re-pointed using traditional mortar, all the masonry has also been cleaned using our specialist cleaning machine.

💎A hidden gem we had the pleasure of restoring last year. 💎

Nestled away in a corner of a private estate on the Black Isle, this listed building had been left untouched for years after the estate fell into decline. This all changed when the current owners purchased the estate and renovated this derelict power house, which once supplied the power to the entire estate, into a luxury holiday home. We were delighted to have been asked to restore the original stonework on the building, which was in need of some tlc. We removed the old pointing and cleaned the stone with our specialist stone cleaning machine which came up beautifully. We then repointed the building with lime, keeping in style with the original work from the early 1900’s.

Very proud of this one! ⚒

⚒️Apprenticeship opportunity⚒️

The apprenticeship will be a mix of on site training with myself and a stone masonry programme with the Historic Scotland training facility in Elgin. The programme will last for 4 years and by the end of it you will be a fully qualified stone mason, with all the required skills.

This is a paid apprenticeship and your accommodation and travel needs will be paid via CITB (Construction Industry Training Board). The training programme with Historic Scotland is due to commence in August, however training with myself will start right away.
