Always admiring Manchester’s architecture and history when we’re out and about (even in this heat)! 150 years apart …. 1876 v 2026.

Built in 1876, the former St. Peter’s Schools building is located on Hewitt Street (off Little Peter Street) near Deansgate Station in Manchester. Founded by the city’s Victorian cotton magnates, it features distinctive Arts & Crafts architecture with arched windows and date stones.

The site later took on legendary status in Manchester’s cultural history and became The Boardwalk, an iconic live music venue and nightclub.

We wonder if the apartments will still be there in 2176?

Great to see our split-level extension project in Marple, Stockport nearing completion. This unique single storey rear extension has been carefully designed to respond to the natural contours of the sloping site, creating a seamless connection between the home, garden and surrounding landscape.

The carefully considered palette of timber, glass and textured finishes allows the new addition to sit comfortably within its setting while creating a striking modern contrast to the existing property.

Using the split-level site to full advantage, the design introduces a spacious entertainment suite at lower ground floor level, complete with expansive glazing and dual access points opening directly onto the garden. Flooded with natural light, the interior creates a calm and inviting atmosphere, blurring the boundary between inside and out.
