Most homeowners think a jet wash is the quickest way to get a roof looking new again.

And for a few weeks, it is.

What they don’t see is the damage it can leave behind.

Funny how those two quotes can be so different 👀

It feels like every other roofing quote these days starts with:

The difference between a roofer and a guy who owns a ladder 👇😭

One replaces the ridge properly.

The other covers it in mortar and hopes for the best.

Unfortunately, both charge the same price these days.

1️⃣ Because they never actually look at the gutter 😭❌
Imagine paying someone to clean your gutters without even touching them.

A camera on a pole isn’t an inspection.

It’s a guess.

2️⃣ Out of sight, out of mind 🤡❌
Most gutter vac companies rely on the fact you’ll never climb up there and check.

If there’s still moss, weeds and sludge left behind… who’s going to know? 👀

3️⃣ They’re cleaning gutters without checking the roof 😂

Half the problems aren’t even in the gutter.

Cracked tiles, loose ridges, blocked valleys, damaged flashing…

A vacuum won’t spot any of it.

Funny how we’ve never had a customer ask us to switch to a gutter vac after seeing how much debris comes out by hand 😭

We’ll keep doing it the old fashioned way.

✅ Show the customer exactly what’s going on

When did roofers get so afraid of being on a roof? 😭

Every week we hear the same thing:

“You’ll need scaffolding.”

For a roof clean? Really? 👀

Some roofers seem more interested in hiring scaffolding than actually getting on the roof.

Meanwhile we’re up there doing the job.

✅ Roof inspected

✅ Moss scraped by hand

✅ Gutters cleared

✅ Soft wash & biocide treatment applied

✅ No unnecessary scaffolding bill

The funny part is this post will probably upset more roofers than homeowners 😂

If you needed your roof cleaned tomorrow, would you pay an extra £1,000+ for scaffolding or would you rather have someone who actually knows how to work safely on a roof?

1️⃣ Full roof inspection
Before we touch anything, we check the roof for cracked tiles, loose ridges, damaged pointing and any issues that could become expensive later.

2️⃣ Moss scraped by hand
No aggressive jet washing. We remove the moss properly without damaging the roof underneath.

3️⃣ Gutters cleared
All moss and debris is removed from the gutters so rainwater can flow exactly as it should.

4️⃣ Soft wash treatment applied
This is the step most companies skip 👀

We apply a professional biocide treatment to kill off the remaining moss, algae and lichen spores.

This helps keep the roof cleaner for longer and slows down regrowth.

5️⃣ Final inspection
Once the roof is clean, we inspect it again and show the customer exactly what we’ve found.

No scare tactics.

No unnecessary repairs.

No “you need a whole new roof” sales pitch 😭

Just a proper roof clean from start to finish.

What starts as a bit of green fluff can end up costing thousands.

Today we pulled back years of moss and found exactly what we expected…

❌ Trapped moisture

A REAL roofer will NEVER jet wash your roof 👇

A lot of roofers hate scraping.

Why?

Because it takes time 😭

It’s much easier to turn up with a pressure washer, blast the roof for an hour and send the invoice.

The problem is…

1️⃣ It’s the lazy option 🤡❌
Fast for the roofer. Not always best for the roof.

2️⃣ It can damage older tiles 💥❌
Then somehow you’re the one paying for the repairs.

3️⃣ The moss usually comes back 😭❌
The roof looks great for a few weeks, then you’re back where you started.
