Bad weather is the perfect opportunity for training and skills development.

Today, some of the GBS team spent the day updating their knowledge of built up felt roofing.

As we wrap things up for Christmas, GBS Roofing paid a visit to the lovely people at Bryson Pathways, an organisation that offers practical help to struggling families.

Over the past month, a giant crate in our warehouse has been filled with Christmas presents donated by the team at GBS Roofing.

Bryson Pathways will now use those gifts to ensure as many children and young people as possible will receive a gift on Christmas morning.

The weather is beautiful this week but back in January it was a very different story!

In the aftermath of Storm Éowyn, GBS Roofing was called to consult on a number of industrial sites and public buildings whose roofs were damaged or destroyed by winds of over 80mph.

One such building was the Aurora Aquatic and Leisure Centre in Bangor, Co. Down.

Immediately after the storm, GBS Roofing assessed damage to the roof and proposed a temporary solution to restore Aurora’s waterproofing integrity.

Once it was safe for our team to proceed, we began repair work, installing a temporary single ply PVC membrane to approximately 2000m² of roof and allowing the building to fully reopen as quickly as possible.

GBS Roofing has just completed a 700m² roofing project at Lagan Valley Hospital’s day procedure unit.

The old roof was stripped and then the building was re-roofed using a Sikaplan insulated system, and a series of new Sika rooflights were installed, all whilst the building remained fully operational.

We had great day at this event, meeting the next generation of construction professionals.

Thanks to CITB Northern Ireland, Cool FM and W5 Belfast for organising.

CITB NI, in partnership with W5 Belfast and supported by Cool FMCool FM, hosted an inspiring Build Your Career event for 120 Year 10 pupils from 6 schools to explore exciting careers in the construction industry!

Students got hands-on with activities in civil engineering, joinery, heritage skills, and roofing, while learning about the diverse career opportunities and qualifications needed to succeed in the field.
