Hollywood 0 - 2 2011

Before the match both teams were on 18 points so it was always going to be a tough game.

AR from the kick-off were at it, and they got a corner within the first minute with some attacking play. The corner was cleared, and then AR passed the ball down the right wing, Dylan crossed the ball and Thomas making his 2011 debut was at the back post to fire it in to go 1-0 up.💪

The game ebbed and flowed from both teams and both defences played really well.

2nd half started with Jackson coming on for Timmy who had tirelessly worked his socks off. Jackson was told when we don't have the ball to get tight to their No7, as he was sitting behind their midfield looking to play through balls. He did such a good job that they eventually subbed him.

Noah came on for the injured captain and he was immense, brilliant tackling and passing of the ball, we went from defending to attacking thanks to his passing many times.

Ewan came on for Adam and his relentless pressing was outstanding, thanks to this attitude he got the ball of their defender in the box and he got away a strong shot that was well saved by the goalkeeper.

On the 58th minute, Ewan with his pressing again, won the ball on the half way line, passed to Lucas, who then played a lovely through ball and with their keeper coming out to clear it, Jackson just got there before him and lobbed the ball over him to take a well deserved 2-0 lead.

We keep telling them "Goals win matches, clean sheets win trophies" and that is our 6th clean sheet this season 💪💪

St Marys 0-3 Antrim Rovers 2011 ⚽️

Another great performance from the squad. Today's game was 1st against 2nd, with both teams not conceding a goal. So everything was in place for a good game.

The boys starting really strong from the whistle and they were strong into tackles and their pressing was excellent. Sonnie pulled off a save and his goal kick sent Adam on a run in on goal and he just went wide with his shot. Form the goal kick Adam and Amir pressed St Marys back and ended up winning a corner. Lucas crossed in a sweet ball and Alex was there with a jump and a volley into the net to go 1-0 up.

St Mary's kicked off and Amir won the ball and he then passed to Adam who then took it round 2 players and slotted it into the corner to make it 2-0. Fantastic 6 minutes of football form Antrim Rovers.

St Marys won a corner, which they took short and with a cross into the box, their forward was their to score but the ref blew for offside. A gentle wake-up call to the boys that this game still had a long way to go.

The boys kept attacking and had a few crosses into the box that were just inches away from Adam. Then on the 23rd minute Jackson trapped a nice pass,he held of the defender and with a good pass he found Amir who then skipped past 2 players to make it 3-0.

2nd half began and the AR defence was just rock solid, Tiernan, Jakub, Callum, Noah, Oscar and Sonnie weren't going to give up their clean sheet without a fight and for the 3rd game they were immense. We just couldn't get that 4th goal to really put the game to bed.

Today we had 2 picks,

Sonnie in nets was fantastic and his goalkicks led to so many opportunities that he made other team sit back.
Oscar at left back was brilliant, his tackling was brilliant and he never allowed their right winger to get into the game.
