This is the reason you need to make sure you contain bamboo. Rhizomes can pierce through asphalt, tear up paved areas, and infiltrate drains. While they rarely damage sound concrete, they exploit existing cracks in structures.
These are the rhizomes pulled out from under the lawn and under patio today. Cutting the canes does not stop them, the rhizomes must be fully excavated.
New fabric root barrier and concrete barrier to be installed soon
