When to prune your Cherry tree?

It's good to see that this much loved Cherry in Woodthorpe Park has bounced back after losing a substantial limb recently. Unfortunately any open wound is an entry point for disease. It is for this reason that the prunus family (Cherries & Plums) should not be pruned during the autumn/winter months as they are very susceptible to the Silverleaf fungus. The ideal time for pruning your cherry and plum trees is June-Aug.
