Another project completed for Neil Douglas Block Management in Aylesbury.

This one was all about the leadwork.

Flat roof myths, let's clear a few up.

"Flat roofs always leak." Not if they're installed properly with the right system and maintained correctly.

"A flat roof won't last." A quality EPDM or GRP system should give you 25+ years.

"You can just paint over the cracks." Please don't. You're delaying a problem, not fixing it.

"It's cheaper to patch it." Sometimes. But if it's been patched three times already, a replacement usually costs less in the long run.

This one had a bit more to it than it first looked...

Our client needed their old lead and wooden cladding removed, but once we got into it we found the wooden seal under the window had rotted right through.

Not something you want to leave.

We replaced it with a PVC seal, reinstated the existing window, and then got to work on the full installation:

18mm OSB, breathable membrane, 25x50 treated batten, and Cedral cladding throughout.

The kind of job where you do it properly or you do it twice. We prefer the first option.

If your cladding is looking tired or you've spotted signs of rot, get in touch before a small problem becomes a big one.

Summer is actually the best time to get your roof checked.

Dry weather, longer days, and problems are easier to spot before autumn arrives and turns a small issue into a big one.

Here's what to look out for:

Cracked or slipped tiles. Blocked gutters. Moss build-up. Blistering on flat roofs. Any signs of water staining inside your loft.

Catching it now is always cheaper than catching it in November.

Common causes:

- Poor flashing
- Damaged underlay
- Bad previous repairs
- Water tracking from another area
- Worn materials around joints or edges & leadwork

Most ‘quick fixes’ don’t solve the root problem.

We find where it’s actually coming from and fix it properly, so you’re not dealing with the same issue again in a few months.
