It’s not very often these days that we get the opportunity to carry out an electrical installation using MICC Pyro — it simply isn’t specified or used as much as it once was.

So we were delighted when our client opted for the traditional Pyro look and feel throughout their new industrial unit.

The internal emergency lighting installation is now complete, with all MICC cabling installed neatly and sympathetically to suit the building.

Just one return visit remaining to complete the new high-bay lighting and bring this stage of the project to completion.

Great to carry out a site visit this week and see our newest apprentice, Max, hard at work! ⚡

Max is J.Shaw Group’s latest Apprentice Electrician and has made a fantastic start, bringing plenty of positivity, enthusiasm and a great attitude to the role.

At J.Shaw Group, we aim to take on a new electrical apprentice every two years, giving young people the opportunity to learn the trade properly, gain real site experience and develop alongside experienced commercial and industrial electricians.

Bringing the next generation of electricians into the industry is something we’re passionate about and will remain an important part of our business for years to come.

⚡ Commercial EV Charging – Data Logging Underway ⚡

Data logging is currently ongoing at our client’s premises ahead of a planned commercial EV charging installation by J. Shaw Group.

Before any EV charging infrastructure is designed or installed, it’s essential that we first establish the site’s existing electrical demand and available capacity.

By carrying out detailed load monitoring, we can assess:

* Existing maximum demand
* Peak electrical loads
* Available spare capacity
* Suitability of the existing electrical supply
* Whether load management will be required
* The most suitable EV charging solution for the premises

These essential checks allow us to design an EV charging system that is safe, compliant and correctly sized for the client’s current and future requirements.

⚡ A New All-Electric Vehicle Is Joining Our Fleet

We’ll soon be taking delivery of a new all-electric Volkswagen Transporter, marking another important investment in the continued growth of J.Shaw Group.

As our operations expand, we remain committed to investing in the future of the business, our workforce and the vehicles and equipment they rely on every day.

This will be our first fully electric van, and we’re looking forward to getting it out on the road.

🔍 Electrical Investigation Works – Manchester City Centre

We’ve recently been carrying out electrical investigation works at a modern office complex in Manchester city centre.

Our client, a property management company, contacted us following several water leaks within the building, which had penetrated through to the ground-floor offices.

Unfortunately, the water ingress has caused damage to sections of the DALI lighting track, meaning the affected track lighting will now need to be replaced.

Our team is working closely with the client to complete the necessary remedial works and ensure the property is returned to full operation as quickly and safely as possible.

⚡ New 200A Three-Phase Supply Installation Completed

J.Shaw Group has recently completed the installation of a new 200-amp three-phase electrical supply for a long-standing industrial client.

Electricity North West provided the incoming supply from the site transformer to a new external GRP enclosure, complete with a fused BEMCO unit.

Our engineers then completed the customer-side installation, including:

✅ New Wylex 200A combination isolator
✅ New supply installed from the external GRP enclosure to the client’s premises
✅ Schneider 7-way three-phase distribution board
✅ 100mm heavy-duty external cable tray
✅ Cable tray covers installed throughout for additional mechanical protection

The containment route needed to be installed externally, requiring a robust and durable solution suitable for the industrial environment.

Another commercial and industrial installation delivered safely and professionally by the J.Shaw Group team.
