We've been fairly quiet on socials recently…but as busy as ever delivering projects for our clients on the ground! 👷‍♀️,🚜🌳

It's been an extremely busy time following our management buyout back in April, with the McGowan Environmental Engineering team traversing the country - north to Shetland, south to the Scottish Borders and from Lewis in the west to Aberdeen in the east - delivering vital projects, including:

Peatland restoration ✅
River restoration ✅
Footpaths ✅
Upland access ✅

And Autumn and Winter is looking no less busy for the team with new projects kicking off, multi-year projects to return to and the continuation of the delivery of framework projects for key clients - more of which to follow...

We are really looking forward to attending the RSPB Nature of Scotland awards in November where a project we helped deliver is shortlisted for an award. (https://www.rspb.org.uk/whats-happening/nature-of-scotland-awards)

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT 🔎

The team at McGowan Environmental are delighted to see this river restoration project we recently delivered for Fife Council and Fife Coast & Countryside Trust shortlisted in the Coast & Waters category of RSPB Scotland's prestigious Nature of Scotland Awards.

Director, Sam Hesling, comments: "Delivering the Back Burn restoration alongside CBEC eco-engineering UK & EuropeLtd and local stakeholders was a real highlight of our 2025/26 work programme. Both challenging and engaging, the project was delivered with a high level of collaboration across all parties and we are especially grateful to the people of Coul and Balbirnie for their patience during the works - and to SEPA for the opportunity to work on this Water Environment Fund (WEF) funded project.

"As well as improving resilience to climate change, this vital restoration project has returned the river to a more natural state, benefiting wildlife and creating a better environment for the local community to enjoy. We are thrilled that otters and brown trout have already been sighted at the Coul Reservoir on the outskirts of Glenrothes."

Prestigious Nature of Scotland awards recognise Back Burn river restoration project as it comes to completion.

We’re delighted to announce that Directors, Sam Hesling and Kyle McGowan, have completed a management buyback of McGowan Environmental Engineering. Having been acquired by BRUSH Group in November 2024 as part of a deal including then sister companies - McGowan Infrastructure and Eco Cable Protect UK - we have completed a deal to purchase the business.

Sam and Kyle comment:

“We are grateful both for the opportunities BRUSH have provided us and the business over the past 18 months, and for their support in facilitating this deal. We now look forward to leading our team of dedicated and skilled people and using our skills and experience to continue to serve the environmental sector throughout Scotland and further afield.”

The business will continue to trade as McGowan Environmental Engineering with all 24 staff transitioning to the new company.
