When access gets tricky, you find another way!

We recently completed a small courtyard project for the RD&E Hospital Exeter, bringing some fresh planting and greenery to the space.

There was just one small challenge… work taking place around the usual access point meant getting materials to the courtyard wasn’t quite as straightforward as planned.

So, our team improvised.

Plants, bark and materials were loaded into wheelbarrows, taken up in the lift and carefully wheeled through the hospital to reach the courtyard.

It might not have been the usual route to site, but our teams are always ready to adapt and improvise to keep a job moving.

A great effort from Geoff and Jack, working around the access restrictions while being mindful of the busy hospital environment and making sure the project stayed on track. 👏

We hope the finished courtyard brings a little more greenery and a bit of enjoyment to the patients, staff and visitors who need it most.

We had great fun supporting the Dalwood Country Fair again this year!

Our Nursery team put together these colourful displays to help brighten up the showground – and what a day for it!

It’s always lovely to be involved with events happening right on our doorstep and support our local community.

What a way to start Taunton Flower Show!

We’re absolutely thrilled that The Modern Hearth has been awarded a Gold Medal AND the Somerset Cup for Best Garden!

The awards were announced this morning as the show opened, and there were definitely some very happy faces on our team! We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve created and of everyone who has worked so hard to bring the garden to life.

Something special is taking shape...

Our designers are putting the finishing touches to the show garden we’ll be exhibiting at this year’s Taunton Flower Show on 7–8 August.

The garden reimagines the modern outdoor kitchen as today’s hearth – a place where cooking, conversation and connection come together. We’re keeping the finer details under wraps for now, but we can’t wait to share the finished garden with you!

What starts as a pencil sketch can now become an immersive walk-through in minutes.

At TBL, we're always looking for ways to develop as a team and embrace new technology that enhances the design journey.

After completing Twinmotion training with Chris Hull a few months ago, we've had plenty of time to build our confidence with the software, and it's now become a key part of how we present our designs.

By combining traditional sketching with the latest visualisation technology, we can explore ideas together, make instant changes to planting, materials, layouts and lighting, and help clients picture their future garden before work even begins.

We still believe great design starts with creativity and a pencil—but being able to bring those ideas to life so quickly is something we're really enjoying (and yes... it's pretty fun to play with too!).

Our photographer recently spent the day with one of our Grounds Maintenance teams at our regional site in Gloucester.

Looking after a site of this size takes teamwork, hard work and a good sense of humour – especially in the recent heat.

These photos capture exactly that, and they're a great reflection of the culture and people who make TBL what it is.

This is one of the show home gardens our team recently completed for Tilia Homes, and we couldn't resist sharing a few photos.

From the seating area to the planting, every part of the garden has been designed to feel welcoming and ready to enjoy.

From the first design sketch to ongoing maintenance.

These show homes at Foundry Lea were designed by Angela, our in-house Landscape Designer, landscaped by our Commercial team and are now maintained by our Grounds Maintenance team.

Projects like this showcase the benefit of having a talented in-house designer supported by experienced installation and maintenance teams. By working together, our departments can share ideas, support one another and help create landscapes that look great from day one and continue to thrive long after.

We're really pleased with how these show homes have turned out and look forward to seeing them mature over the coming months.

This Men's Health Week, we're recognising the importance of taking time out and looking after ourselves.

Our industry can be physically and mentally demanding, and it's easy to focus on the next task, the next deadline, or the next job.

Many people also spend parts of their day working alone, which is why opportunities to come together away from work are so important.

Whether it's a bit of friendly competition, sharing some food, or simply having a laugh with colleagues, these moments give people the chance to connect. Often, that's when the best conversations happen.

We're fortunate to have a Wellness Team made up of people from across the business, alongside support from Perennial - Gardeners' Royal Benevolent Society whenever it's needed.

With this year's Summer Social just around the corner, it's a timely reminder of why we make time for it.
