Nice little challenge on this staircase.🪚
The stair flight had to be fitted into joists running at an awkward angle, so custom joist hangers were needed to make everything work properly. I made up cardboard templates first before sending them off to the metal fabricators.🗜
Flooring also had to be cut back, with the trimmers doubled up to meet the specification provided by John Oats Structural Engineering.📐📏
All bolted up and signed off by building control. 🔩🔧

Another project up and running. Single storey extention, turning this double garage into an annexe. 📐⛏📏
With 2 sets of family chipping in to get it underway. About 15 tonnes taken out.
All ready and set for concrete. 👷🏻‍♂️

A big experiment for myself and
We looked at trying to shoehorn a water feature into the new spa room, after looking at prices and sizes and not really landing on something that suited the space, I had the bright idea I could make my own 💡
When we first arrived at the unit, there was some bamboo left in the corner and I was determined to use it somewhere somehow in the new space. Turned out great for directing the water.
I foamed a really rough shape initially and left it that way for months. It then became the place to ditch left over plaster, tiling adhesive and grout.
I then further shaped the entire feature with a mortar mix 3:1 with Sbr, and tried to add texture here and there. Once dry, I coated with a waterproof mixture,
And then just sprayed, painted, dabbed, rolled, wiped and what ever you can do with paint to end up with what you see.
The worst bit was, I couldn't test it until it was all done so quite a gamble on if it would work and if it sounded nice when the water crashed.
Did I get it right?

Shuttering works carried out on behalf of P H Hardwill for Sea Sisters UK at Pineapple Business Park.
Although we weren’t involved in pouring the concrete, we worked late into the night to ensure everything was fully prepped and ready ahead of the pour. 🌛
Works not limited to shuttering – we also take on a range of carpentry and site support to help keep projects moving efficiently. 🔨
A solid bit of teamwork all round to get it over the line. 💪🏻

Another solid install ticked off recently 🔨🔥
I fitted a 60-minute fire door at the local community waffle house — now giving them that extra level of safety and compliance without compromising on the look. Clean fit, smooth close, and built to do its job if it ever needs to.
I pre hung the frame off site and popped in on a Sunday afternoon, to ensure full opening times were uninterrupted 😎
It always good to work on places that bring the community together (and serve an excellent waffle too 🧇).

🚃 Jack’s staying on the same tracks — letting a little more light (and a few more ☕ express-o lovers) into The Railway Kitchen 🍽
We had some leftover beech from our recent projects at The Nurture Sanctuary… so let’s keep this between us — Poppy doesn’t need to know her offcuts have gone travelling 🤫😅.
Pre-made in an evening for a completely pane-less install. Slotted in on a Sunday to avoid disrupting trade — we went the extra mile to keep things running right on Jack’s timetable. No delays, no replacement bus service.
Meanwhile, Jack’s expanding the empire — next stop: Honiton Station 🚂
He’s running cafés like the 10:15 express… full steam ahead, no platform for slowing down, and building a proper latte momentum along the way.
All aboard the gravy train. 🚉

Thought I'd better post this before it gets too warm 🥶😅
On the run up to Christmas, I created this media wall/ unit from pallets.
I got the TV mounted on the wall and then built around it, all based on a quick sketch I'd done.
I integrated the sound bar and cut 3 small rounded holes to give it something a bit different and give it a better look over seeing the whole bar exposed.
The fire turned out better than expected and gives off a really nice colour and feel.
I also built a coat and shoe store, again all from pallets.
