50 years of reliable service, but look at what was hiding inside!!

During a recent cylinder replacement, we needed to drain down an old inverted cylinder featuring a top port. To properly evacuate the fluid, we drilled a small drainage hole near the base.

Instead of clean hydraulic oil, out came a heavy mixture of rust sludge and particulate contamination.

What's remarkable is that despite decades of build-up, this lift ran faultlessly for over half a century. Because it was an inverted setup, gravity worked in our favor—the heavy debris settled harmlessly at the bottom rather than circulating continuously and scarring the main ram.

It’s a testament to the sheer durability of legacy engineering, but also a reminder of why planned maintenance and eventual component upgrades are so critical.

Heavy Lifting & Engineering Artistry

At GF Lift Hydraulics, our team recently tackled a monster borehole telescopic cylinder swap—all completed out of hours to keep operations running seamlessly.

Projects like this demand precision, planning, and serious teamwork. Here is a look behind the scenes:

The Scaffolding Masterpiece:
A custom gantry was engineered directly into the concourse to give us total control of the heavy cylinder while carefully navigating the surrounding glass lift shaft.

Safety & Design:
The load-bearing scaffold required custom design approvals prior to er****on, and full hoarding was built to keep the equipment secure and the area safe.

Precision Fitting:
Working seamlessly together, our engineers finished ahead of schedule. With literally inches to spare, the cylinder fitted flawlessly into the borehole.

The Final Touches:
The cylinder case was denso-taped for long-term protection, and the power unit was successfully replaced.

Next up: installing the new hoses, getting the lift back on oil, and dismantling the scaffold!

A massive well done to the engineering team and planning department for executing a complex job so smoothly.

Another modernisation project using the Hydroware H2 package - except this time it’s a duplex.

Delivered to site and installed as part of a modernisation program kept on track by the GF team, thank you to everyone involved.

This project wasn’t without its challenges but thanks to the dedication and hard work of the team and especially our amazing engineers, Dan and James, we completed on time to a very happy customer.

Special thanks to TKE project management team who kept the client informed every step of the way and exceeded their expectations.

This project included the installation of a Hydroelite Veni system, along with new COP’s, TFT indicators, shaft information systems, and new hoses, door operators and delivering a clean, modern and reliable solution throughout.

As with all the H2 packages it comes with the 5-year parts warranty, giving long-term peace of mind, alongside the cloud-based remote login feature, which is free for the first year — a fantastic tool for diagnostics, monitoring and future-proofing.

It’s amazing what a little bit of care, attention to detail and the right equipment can achieve. I’m incredibly proud of our GF team and wanted to share these photos with my LinkedIn contacts.

Partnership in Action:

I am incredibly pleased to showcase one of our latest modernisation projects, where we took an aging hydraulic lift and gave it a high-performance new lease of life.

This project was a true testament to the professionalism and team effort between Unite Lift Services Ltd and GF Lift Hydraulics Ltd.

By combining our strengths, we transformed a legacy system into a modern, reliable asset for our client.

The synergy between our two companies allowed for a seamless ex*****on of a complex split-scope of work:

The specification:

GF Lift Hydraulics provided the hydraulic technical expertise, installing a Hydroelite Veni plug-and-play controller and power unit system, along with a new borehole cylinder, pipe rupture valve and main hose.

Unite Lifts focused on the passenger experience and aesthetics, delivering a full car reline, a new car door, and new landing entrances complete with modern pushes and TFT indicators and full testing.

The Result:

We have just successfully completed the consultant witness test. To top it off, we received glowing praise from the lift consultant complimenting the project team on their conduct and quality of work.

A huge well done to the entire team at GF Lift Hydraulics and Unite Lifts, this is a perfect example of what can be achieved when two specialists work in total sync.

Our team recently tackled a critical twin cylinder replacement, ensuring production stayed on track.

The Project Scope:

• Full twin cylinder replacement.
• Installation of new balanced twin pipe
rupture valves for enhanced safety.
• Complete hose replacement and fresh
hydraulic oil.

Thanks to the seamless coordination between our on-site engineers, the technical department, and our project coordinators, we hit our deadline exactly as promised. The lift is back in service, and the customer is back to full capacity!
