AW Energy Paves The Way For A Cleaner Future

AW Energy (AWE) has demonstrated once again its commitment to tackling climate change through the acquisition of specialist borehole drilling company, Synergy Boreholes and Systems Ltd.

The move will enable the business to explore and harness the capabilities of geothermal ground source heat, which will have an increasingly important role in supporting a brighter, cleaner future.

The acquisition will see the creation of a new borehole drilling arm of the business known as ‘AW Synergy Boreholes’. AW Synergy Boreholes will draw upon the latest technologies to lead the charge in this growing part of the renewable energy sector.

The establishment of AW Synergy Boreholes comes at an increasingly exciting time for AWE. AWE combines world-class technology and knowledge to deliver ground-breaking sustainable development solutions across the country. This includes a new electric vehicle charging station in Leighton Buzzard which, in a UK-first, will incorporate wind, solar, energy storage, domestic charging and electric public transport.

The business also operates the two tallest onshore wind turbines in the UK at Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire and Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire. A third wind turbine in Nottinghamshire was added to the fleet in 2016. More recently, a planning application has been submitted to double the energy production capabilities of a new wind turbine at its Checkley Wood site.

Drawing upon AWE’s knowledge and experience, the creation of AW Synergy Boreholes will enable the business to pave the way in geothermal energy generation. In a statement, Bob Williams, Chief Executive at Arnold White Group, said:

Synergy are currently looking for drillers and drilling assistants to join our expanding team. Drillers to be based in the south of England and have:
· NVQ level 2 in Land Drilling
· Current CSCS card
· Full UK driving licence
· Experience an advantage but not necessary as Synergy will provide all training

Drilling assistant:
· Current CSCS card.
· Full UK driving licence
· Experience an advantage but not necessary as Synergy will provide all training

No Ground Source drilling experience necessary! Synergy will provide all training in ground source drilling.
Geotechnical and site investigation drillers are welcome to apply.
