Alan qualified as a furniture designer and cabinetmaker in 1984, having studied design and fine crafts

manship at Rycotewood College, which, at that time was in Thame, Oxfordshire. After gaining further experience at Quainton Cottage Furniture, he set up his own workshop near Waddesdon in 1993 making a very wide range of furniture and joinery. From 1997 he has had a workshop in Ford and the company makes mainly bespoke hand-painted and real wood fitted furniture to high specification. The company uses 3d CAD design technology for visualisation and accuracy. This also improves efficiency and the economic use of carefully selected sustainable materials. Alan has a passion for keeping traditional cabinetmaking skills alive in England and is continuously passing on his skills to the younger generation through on-the-job training. We are in an age where a lot of furniture is imported or quickly made from synthetic materials, but there will always be a market for maintaining the many period properties in the area in sympathy with their traditional styles. also takes on challenging contemporary projects which have special bespoke requirements, for example pivoting bookcases on silent bearings to reveal a secret room.
