This consumer unit was “upgraded” by a local electrician who was supposed to make the installation safe with RCD protection — but instead fitted standard MCBs only.
MCBs protect against overloads and short circuits, but they do not provide the same life-saving protection against electric shock that RCDs / RCBO’s do.
Unfortunately, this customer paid for work they believed would improve safety, only to discover they had effectively been ripped off.
