A little renovation progress 👀

This project was stripped right back to the bare walls, and it’s now starting to come together properly.

Our part of the job has included the plumbing and heating throughout, which we’ll share more of once everything is finished.

For now though, this is the wetwall that’s been chosen for the bathroom.

We absolutely love it.

The herringbone pattern gives it a bit of character without being too much, and the colour works really well with the brass fittings.

It’s always good seeing a renovation go from a complete strip out to the point where all the finishing details start bringing it together.

What do you think of the wetwall?

Would you choose something like this for your own bathroom?

More from this renovation coming soon, including the plumbing and heating side of the project.

🔥 Boiler or Heat Pump? The Right Answer Depends on the Home.

Coming towards the end of another flat-out week at Trust Boilers & Renewables.

We’ve got lots of heat pump installations lined up, which is really exciting to see.

But we’re also still installing plenty of new boilers.

And I think that’s important.

There isn’t one single heating solution that is right for every home.

Sometimes a new gas or oil boiler is the right option.

Sometimes a heat pump makes more sense.

Sometimes the biggest improvement comes from better controls, upgraded radiators, cleaner system water or improving the way the existing heating system is set up.

The important thing is getting good advice based on your actual property.

We’d always rather look at the house properly, understand how you use it and then recommend the solution that makes sense for you.

If you’re thinking about upgrading your heating before winter, whether that’s a new boiler, a heat pump or simply improving the system you already have, now is a really good time to start the conversation.

There’s lots happening over the next few months and I’m genuinely excited about the projects we’ve got coming up.

🔥 Who Looks After Your Heating System?

Most people have someone they use for their car.

Someone who services it, knows its history and is there when something goes wrong.

We think your heating system should be looked after in much the same way.

At Trust Boilers & Renewables, we look after gas boilers, oil boilers and air source heat pumps, from annual servicing through to repairs and ongoing maintenance.

And if you’d rather have everything organised, you can join one of our Trust Care Plans.

The idea is simple.

✔ A quality annual service

✔ A team that gets to know your heating system

✔ Help identifying problems before they become bigger ones

✔ An experienced office team available Monday to Friday, 8am to 4.30pm

✔ Someone you know you can call when you need advice

We’re already seeing more heating faults as systems are switched back on after summer, so now is a really good time to get yours checked and ready before the colder weather arrives.

Booking is straightforward too.

Give our office a call, tell us a little about your system and we’ll arrange a date and time for your engineer to visit.

🔥 Is Your Heating Ready to Wake Back Up?

It feels like everyone is getting back into the swing of normal life again as the summer holidays come to an end.

The kids are heading back, routines are returning, and at Trust Boilers & Renewables we are definitely noticing the change.

We are already seeing a lot more boiler, central heating and heat pump breakdowns as people start switching their systems back on after they have been sitting unused for a while.

That is often when problems show themselves.

A pump that has become stuck.

A valve that is no longer moving properly.

A boiler losing pressure.

A heat pump showing a fault.

A radiator that is not heating properly.

A system that simply does not feel like it is working as well as it used to.

If your heating has not been used much over the summer, now is a really good time to switch it on and make sure everything is working properly before the colder weather arrives.

Do not wait until the first properly cold week to discover there is a problem.

We are also seeing a lot of homeowners planning ahead and upgrading older boilers, as well as more people looking seriously at moving over to heat pumps.

So whether you need a repair, a service, a new boiler or you are thinking about a heat pump, now is a good time to get things moving.

🚿 Still Living With an Old Gravity Hot Water System?

This week has honestly been a blur. It has been incredibly busy, and one thing we have seen a lot of is problems with older hot water systems.

Leaking cylinders.

Tanks in lofts causing issues.

Poor hot water flow.

Showers that are disappointing.

Systems that simply are not keeping up with how people use their homes now.

If you still have an older gravity-fed hot water system, it may be worth asking whether an upgrade would make life easier.

Where the property and mains water supply are suitable, upgrading to an unvented pressurised hot water cylinder can bring a number of benefits.

✔ Stronger hot water flow at taps

✔ Much better shower performance

✔ Hot water available at mains pressure

✔ No large cold water storage tank needed in the loft

✔ Reduced risk of leaks or overflows from loft tanks

✔ More usable storage space in the loft

✔ A neater, more modern hot water system

✔ Better performance when more than one outlet is being used

✔ Easier integration with modern heating systems

✔ A good option for homes with multiple bathrooms

✔ Potential to future-proof the property for heat pumps or other low temperature systems

The biggest difference for many customers is simply how the house feels to use afterwards.

A shower that actually has good pressure.

Baths that fill quicker.

Hot water that feels much more consistent.

And less old equipment taking up valuable space.

Not every home is automatically suitable, so it is important to check the incoming mains flow and pressure and make sure the system is designed correctly.

But if you have an old cylinder, tanks in the loft, poor shower pressure or a hot water system that is becoming unreliable, it may be worth looking at an upgrade rather than continuing to repair an ageing setup.

If you are wondering whether your home could be converted to a pressurised hot water system, speak to our team and we can advise on the best option.

🔥 When Did You Last Test Your Heating?

It has been another incredibly busy week at Trust Boilers & Renewables, and I cannot believe it is Thursday evening already.

The team has been working long days across installations, servicing, repairs and ongoing projects.

People sometimes assume summer is quiet for heating engineers, but we stay busy throughout the year. The difference is that summer gives homeowners the chance to deal with problems before they urgently need their heating.

If your heating has been switched off for a while, turn it on and let it run.

You do not need to heat the house for hours. Running it briefly once a week can help you spot problems such as:

✔ Radiators that are not heating properly

✔ Pumps or valves that have become stuck

✔ Unusual noises

✔ Loss of pressure

✔ Leaks

✔ Heating controls that are not responding

It is much better to discover these problems now than during the first cold spell, when every heating company becomes extremely busy.

The same applies to servicing.

Just because your boiler or heat pump service normally falls during winter does not mean you need to wait until then. Have it serviced now, get into a summer routine and make sure the system is ready before colder weather arrives.

During the service, we can also check the heating water and advise whether the system may need cleaning or flushing.

And if you still have older radiators that take forever to warm up or do not give off enough heat, summer is also a good time to consider upgrading them.

A little preparation now can make a huge difference when winter arrives.

Contact our office team to book your boiler or heat pump service, heating system check or radiator assessment.

🔥 “I Can’t Remember the Heating Ever Being This Good.”

We recently visited a customer to service her boiler.

She asked us to make sure everything was spot on, so as part of the visit, we tested the water circulating through her heating system.

The results were poor.

The system water was heavily contaminated and the heating desperately needed to be flushed.

When we spoke about it, the customer mentioned a few things she had gradually become used to:

Some radiators were cool at the bottom.

One radiator regularly collected air.

Another radiator did not work at all.

These are not always separate little problems. They can be warning signs that the water inside the heating system is no longer healthy and that sludge or corrosion may be affecting circulation.

We explained what we had found, advised on the repairs required and booked the system in for a full powerflush.

On the day, we flushed all 10 radiators and removed a significant amount of dirty water from the system.

Each radiator and section of pipework was cleaned individually, along with the valves, fittings and the system side of the boiler, helping remove the contamination that had built up over the years.

Once the water was running clean, we restored the correct pressure and added fresh corrosion inhibitor to provide ongoing protection.

We then tested the water again to confirm that everything was where it needed to be.

The result?

All the radiators were working.

They were heating properly from top to bottom.

The house felt noticeably warmer.

And the customer told us:

“I can’t remember the heating ever being this good.”

That is why we do not believe a boiler service should be limited to looking at the boiler alone.

The condition of the water flowing around the rest of your heating system matters too.

Are any of your radiators cold at the bottom?

Do some take longer than others to heat?

Are you constantly bleeding the same radiator?

Is there one that never seems to work properly?

Your heating system may be telling you that it needs attention.

Contact our office team to arrange a service, heating water test or system assessment.

🔧 Experience Matters When It Comes to Your Home

I may be on holiday this week, but the team at Trust Boilers & Renewables are working hard and keeping everything moving.

There is a real mix of work underway.

We have boiler and heat pump servicing to catch up on, repairs identified during recent services, heating and hot water faults to resolve, surveys for new heat pumps, solar PV and battery storage, oil tank replacement enquiries and several renovation projects progressing.

That is one of the things I am most proud of.

The business does not stop when I am away. We have a skilled and experienced team who care about the work they carry out and the customers they look after.

One thing we have come across again this week is poor workmanship on existing plumbing and heating systems.

Unfortunately, the cheapest or quickest option is not always the right one.

Plumbing and heating work requires proper training, technical knowledge and practical experience. It is always worth checking that the engineer working in your home is appropriately qualified, understands the relevant water regulations and has the experience needed to carry out the job correctly.

Poor workmanship may not always cause an immediate problem.

Sometimes the consequences appear months or even years later through leaks, unreliable hot water, damaged components or heating systems that simply do not work as they should.

My advice is simple.

Do not be afraid to ask about qualifications, training and experience before allowing anyone to work on your home.

Good workmanship protects your property, your heating system and your peace of mind.

A big thank you to our team for keeping everything moving this week, and to our customers for the kind messages and feedback we continue to receive.

It never goes unnoticed.

💧 Are You Having Your Heating Water Tested During Every Service?

When most people book a boiler service, they expect the engineer to check the boiler.

But what about the water flowing around your heating system?

At Trust Boilers & Renewables, we believe that’s just as important.

During our services, we test your heating water to check:

🧪 Inhibitor protection – Is your system still protected against corrosion?

🧪 Alkalinity (pH) – Is the water in the correct condition to protect your heating system?

🧪 Copper levels – Are there signs that corrosion may already be taking place inside your pipework?

These simple tests can tell us a huge amount about the health of your heating system.

Without the correct inhibitor levels, your system can slowly begin to corrode from the inside out. Over time, this can lead to sludge, poor radiator performance, blocked heat exchangers, pump failures and expensive repairs.

The worrying part is that you often won’t notice any symptoms until the damage has already started.

That’s why we believe testing the heating water should form part of a quality boiler or heat pump service.

So here’s a question…

When was the last time your engineer tested the water in your heating system?

It could be one of the most important checks they carry out.

🔧 When Was the Last Time You Had Your Boiler or Heat Pump Serviced?

It has been another busy week at Trust Boilers & Renewables.

The team has been progressing installations, while we have also had lots of new boiler and heat pump enquiries coming in, which is always great to see.

But installations are only one part of what we do.

A large part of our work involves servicing and repairing existing heating systems. We believe this is what keeps everything ticking over for our customers.

Regular servicing can help identify small issues before they become bigger and more expensive problems. It also helps keep your boiler or heat pump operating safely, reliably and as efficiently as possible.

So, when was the last time you had yours serviced?

And have you considered joining one of our care plans?

Our care plan customers receive a quality annual service, ongoing support and the reassurance that there is always someone available at the end of the phone during office hours when they need advice.

Whether you have a gas boiler, oil boiler or heat pump, now is a good time to get your service booked before the colder weather arrives.
