What is a Sitoline?
The name was coined when a seat was created out of a trampoline, sofaline being an alternative name.
The first seat was created in 2017, an original design.
All the sitolines created have been made from pre-loved, redundant trampolines. The bounce mat is used to create the actual seat, with the trampoline frame used to create the frame of the seat and with the springs attaching the bounce mat to the frame.
The original sitoline was welded, but over the years bolts have been used in preference to welds as it makes the seats more easy to dismantle and makes them easier to transport and means there are no weak points.
Over the years there have been experiments with the shape of the frame but the best option is the original shape. The new design, the seat with the welsh inscription is a wider and shorter seat, allowing more people to sit and it also makes it easier to lie on.
The decoration on the bounce mats can vary and has followed themes, painted on using acrylic paints.
The Sitolines are a fun, functional creation made of waste materials, a form of sculpture which is interactive, created by Phil Stewart Artivist. View the Facebook, and Instagram pages for Creative Recycling for more information.
