Ballymena bees 🐝. Never had a bee problem with Bangor by the Sea bees😂 Gently go respectfully round them and never felt worried. Aggressive bunch these country lot! Got to Ballymena just after 6am to get them when dozy as even the guys not normally bothered by bees didnt want to get near it. However one guard was around and summoned half a dozen others so I scootled back down the ladder pronto. Over an hour later and they are still angry... anyway last thing I want is pest control to come out and destroy their nest as they are causing no harm and we need bees. So brushes taped to poles time....

The clients of this gorgeous Bangor home are delighted with the transformation we have completed inside and out. Look in the photos how drab the outside was before and that was after extensive scraping and filling.

The colours on the exterior were Little Green Cistrine and Dark Blue with the door finished in Charlotte's locks.

Inside wasnt a huge area. The client likes to do most of her own decorating but felt the hall going upstairs was too much. It required an awful lot of prep to get it right and they are delighted with the result. The walls were completed in Oxford Stone. The ceilings in a subtle Blush Pink with cornicing, rose and all wood finished in the truest white, All White by Farrow and Ball.

Back late this evening from a trade evening at Bespoke Decor in Ballymena. Absolutely superb shop with the best offerings you can't get locally that a trip every few weeks is not a chore! Always something new and interesting.
But this evening I also got my belly fed and more importantly got a load of free primers to try. We always look to use the very best materials on jobs. The best finish, the best adhesion, the quickest to apply, the quickest to dry, the most opaque. They may cost a lot more than cheap alternatives but saves massively on time and time is money, in this case the client's money. See how these ones work out against our tried and trusted!

Look how luxurious this hall, stairs and landing look 😍
The clients has just sent these photos through after getting new carpet fitted. We have completed regular work for them at this house in Newtownabbey and infact I painted this area a few years back but just the walls. This time it was with ceilings and wood as well.

🖌 The ceilings were done in Brilliant White

🖌 The walls were painted 2 coats of Days of Old

🖌 The wood was repainted with Benjamin Moore Satin but the handrails and posts changed to black in a 3 coat process

We absolutely love external work ❤️
This wonderful Holywood Late Victorian home was completed over 2 days last week in the glorious sunshine.

🖌 The exterior masonry was scraped and filled. Finished in Farrow and Ball Light Blue in Stormshield 2 coats

🖌 The cills were prepared and finished in Joa White adding a superb complimentary contrast

🖌 The front door was filled and sanded back. 2 coats of Selvedge Aquaguard primer/undercoat was applied with 2 top coats of Aquaguard Satin. The surround was painted in Joas White in Aqua Satin

Back later this month to do all the rooms in this magnificent home ❤️

Happy landmark 18th birthday to Wee Ellie 🎂🎉🎈
Ellie, door painting queen and team mascot, is now officially an adult.
She joined our team as a day release placement at the age of 16. It was sad coming up to her birthday as I was going to have to sack her. You can't have an adult as a team mascot unless you dress them up in a giant mouse or chimpanzee costume. Plus minimum wage was going up as well and it may well cost me having her there.
Luckily she is fine staying the mascot and it turns out I've been accidentally paying her more than minimum wage which means she can stay on until I've been fully reimbursed.
We all think a lot of our Ellie and when i saw her earlier she was living her best life, just back from a meal out getting trollied tonight with friends and Prodigy tomorrow. Oh, to be young again!

In these seemingly unsettled times with wars kicking off, the mega-wealthy playing divide and conquer with us and the cost of a Savoy cabbage rising to £5 us men need something that universally unites us 💪
And I know what it is..
It's not football or rugby
Its certainly not politics or religion
It's not our taste in women, or indeed men
Its not thinking about the Roman Empire or even a pint of beer. Although close.
No.
What unites us
Is the total love of...
A SECRET ROOM!
They are so bloomin' brilliant.
And one thing I know is Bangor absolutely excels at secret rooms. I've been in many thousands of houses in both England as well as Northern Ireland with work. And the only ones I recall I've come across secret rooms have been here in Bangor. 4 in fact. 2 were bookcase/cabinets that either swivelled or slid, one I believe was a large mirror acting as a door and this one made to look like the kitchen units, although not finished yet.
I think it must be from childhood type of thing and I have no idea why it seems Bangor, anecdotally, is the capital of secret rooms but it is a truly great thing!

PS. Unless its like one of those unsettling American horror films, where possibly not.

PPS. We were round this splendid home decorating not just playing hide and seek with hidden rooms. Photos to follow once everything back in order!

It's not all about going to super houses with smiley customers and having nice coffee and biccies. Often you are working in utter pits. This one took all week.

The video is on the morning of Day 2 in this rental and the aftermath of stripping. All bar the kitchen had been papered in woodchip mostly, and some walls with embossed Anaglypta. On top of that was decades of paint layers. We did not know what was lurking beneath but what was there was truly awful.

The amount of work filling, sanding with dustless extraction, misting, filling, sanding, coating, filling, sanding, coating to get the walls right was immense but the client saved a small fortune, and time, instead of getting the place fully reskimmed. I only used a plasterer for a small section that was heavily ridged.

Photos of this full on returb in due course once flooring down, plaster dry and final touch ups have been completed.
