Another recent job. Taking up fake grass! & removing 9 tonne of hardcore by hand as the entry was to narrow fofr a mini-digger. It was a pleasure to reinstate real grass with a pebble path for another happy customer!

Start to finish, I'm so glad the rain stayed away last week whilst I was undertaking this project. 🌤

Another very happy customer, I'm also hoping for an invite when the BBQ is brought out 😁

How to spend a Saturday... after only 3 training sessions (5 days in total), I entered into my first Hedgelaying Competition with the lancashire and westmorland hedge laying Association . Obviously the Novice Class, but I competed alongside 21 other people across 3 classes: Novice, Intermediate & Open Class (a.k.a. The Professionals!).

The test was to lay 6m of hedge in 6 hours, but a massive thanks to Friends of the Lake District for also providing us with a delicious lunch of pie & peas, and a piece of cake.

So... after a fair amount of axe work and sawing through a mixture of hazel and hawthorn to lay my section of hedge, the results were in...

¤ 1st Place - Best Hedge Novice Class
¤ 1st Place - Best Staking (across all classes)
¤ 2nd Place - Best Hedge (across all classes)

I can't say how chuffed I am with what I've achieved in such a short space of time, but I'm already looking forward to laying more hedges and competing in more competitions.

Just spent the last 3 days on a further hedgelaying course with Joe Craig & Dave Whitaker from the Lancashire & Westmorland Hedgelaying Association. I learnt so much, had such a laugh at the same time and came away with all my fingers intact 🪓. Also a massive thanks to my hedgelaying partner and van buddy, Claire of Thorn and Bramble

Great job fitting my outdoor tap and other great jobs around the house, including shelves in my new shed, grouting, bathroom screen fitting amongst others. So pleased. Kev is grafter, turns up on time and is a perfectionist. Totally reliable and decent rates for a job well done. I highly recommend.

It's all happening now we're in autumn. Check out the before & after pictures of a beautiful Jasmine that had a trim and tidy recently. I also can't wait to see the swathe of firey autumn colours the next time I'm in this garden.
